13bAce I didn't know there was a filter made that you could put in your turbo manifold that would block things like broken apex seals. Please give me some more info on this, like where I can get one and how much it cost.
I think he was talking about an air filter before the turbo. Implying that he may have sucked up something through his turbo. If that was the case wouldn't the intake side of the turbine be damaged?

No not exactly. He can suck a piece of a broken apex seal through the turbo manifold into his turbine housing and blow it out his exhaust.

Yes, I know.

13BAce asked...

Ihor, do you have a filter on the turbo?

And you asked...

So I was just clearing that up.

Yeah, the intake side proably would have been messed up too, but there's always a slim chance that it would make it without too much damage.

pluto is right. leaded race gas will not detonate like pump gas because of its properties. for one, you all know that the higher the octane rating, the less likely the gas is to detonate, meaning a cleaner more evenly burning. that is why people run the gas at higher boost levels, it is just an added insurance when "playing with fire"

S93 mentioned that he was using sunoco 100 pump gas, right, if that is the case, how long had the gas been in the tank? it is possible that the oxygen in the tank (if it were not full) could have denatured the gas. it [the gas] will denature with extended exposure to air, and could have compromised the integrity of the gas.

i also would like to know what judge ito heard in the "mysterious" idle. SNT said the he thought that his idle was fine, and vacuum readings were fine. i have a weird idle too , and would like to know more about it, as far as the weird sound goes. my car hits and misses and lumps and lopes while warming up and it smokes a little. i know this is normal, but i think it is weird because my buddies car does not make these noises. they are similarly set up with the exception that he does not have a street port. we are also both non sequential.......lets keep this thread up and see what the mysterious demon was....

yeah, they are both stock ecu cars. i am waiting on a bonus check to go get the power fc from Rp......hopefully that will take the "lump" outta my idle....but like i said, it is only [mostly] during cold cranks and warm-up time.......

i would like to hear more from silver ninety three regarding his findings......keep us informed SNT....

Does this occur with all gas? or just race/leaded etc? How long(time period) does it take for this to take effect? I had no idea it could be this complicated.
