Hello,

I am looking to peice together a single turbo setup. I have been talking with 94touring about his, and it sounds like the rout i want to go.

This will be my first single conversion, so any input, suggestions, and ideas are appreciated.

I plan on using a 62-1 turbo. I wanted to find something that will supply enough power but still provide a decent low end grunt and have a acceptable spool time. I am not worried about lag. Note that the turbo will be going on a stock ported motor. Mine has 9k on it now, so i think it would be useless to pull it for a port. I am going to build a ported motor this winter so i have a backup if and when the stock one blows. The 62-1 should be good on a ported or non ported motor.

so here is the list i have amassed for the single related items.

62-1 turbo ~ 795

HKS racing manifold (divided) ~ 850

HKS racing wastegate ~ 550

v-band flange ~ 75

clamps, oil lines, fittings gaskets ~ 200-250

HKS DP (can any others be used??)

Thats all i see for that part.

I will need a new I/C as well. My PFS one will not be enough at all. This brings up the SMIC/FMIC debate. My plans for the car are mostly drag racing, but as time goes on I would love to get some more road course type track time. Some people seem to have very large problems overheating with a FMIC, others don't seem to have such a problem. I would be OK with a large SMIC (m2 large type) but really want to have a FMIC for drag. (and they do look sweet) I would most likely go with a greddy 3 row, they seem to be pretty popular. I will also need to get an aftermarket rad, koyo or fluidyne.

Anywho an IC is going to cost around 1500, and another 350-400 for a rad.

I see the clutch being a factor as well. I don't think my ACT s/s clutch can take the abuse much longer, I have been doing vosko style 8k rpm launches on ET streets with braced diff and engine, which hurts the clutch badly. What type of clutch would you reccomend for around 450 rwhp? As far as clutches go, i am not very educated on the subject, so any input here is greatly appreciated.

Fuel system will be addressed by 550 primary, and 1600 secondarys, with an aftermarket FPR and SS lines. I am planning on buying Keith Gibbon's fuel system, It looks like that will work out great. Fuel pump will be a ND, or twin stockers.

EMS will be a Apex'i Power FC, with datalogit. I am also contemplating buying a wideband, but its on the end of my list. If i still have extra money i would love to have one.

I am working on some suspension to handle all the power, but that is another story.

Anywho, i just want to see what you guys reccomend for me, I am on a pretty tight budget. I will be running higher boost levels at the track on race gas. Any ideas of my power output at 20psi?

At this point, I am not sure this is even going to happen. I am going to have the money, But i want to make sure I will be doing it correctly the first time, no reason on doing it again.

thankyou,

bobby.

OBX manifold might be cheeper and its tubular stainless.

If you are doing to drag race alot and do some street driving, definately get a front mount. With proper ducting a front mount can work on the road course as well.

I think you can save a few hundred by using a Tial wastegate. The 40MM is 385.00 and will hold 450+ as I understand. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Yeah, Parts are interchangable here. Going with some TIAL stuff would work well.

My budget isnt that low where I am going to skip out and buy cheep parts however. If i have to spend the cash on quality, I will just bite the bullett and do it. Aparently the OBX manifolds are having some problems, so I think sticking with a divided HKS will be worth it. Am I being stingy here?

I really dont know about the front mount yet. I really need to just decide, as people all have their own opinions on thee overheating problem.

Keep em' coming.

It looks decent. I looked at those too.. A guy on the other forum has one and says it's nice. I *THINK* someone welded a T3 flange on it for a GT3540 and now the turbo hits the LIM... Dunno though...

Here is a pic of the manifold.
