well i finally decided i cant keep on seeing my baby watin for a turbo in the garrage (1 year 3 monts since i started the overhaul) so yet again i changed my mind on turbo setups, basically i decided for what i want outa the car a to4s ( the original plan) will work perfect

ok so heres what i got so far

frest rebuild and huge port from jr rotary performance ( similar ports to vosko's)

haltec e6k 550/1600

apex fmic...all the associated bs....

im ordering the xs manifold and need help on where and what specs to get the turbo ( greg can u help me out??)

lookin for 400 or so @ 17-8psi....

whats the specs on the xs to4s?

i was thinking 1.15 ar on the hot side but dont knwo **** abt what else i should get......all the rest of the oil lines and what not are done and fabin the dp is cake

thanks for any help guys

vosko 11-25-2002 09:32 PM

dragon jspec anyone!

94touring 11-25-2002 09:37 PM

Well a to4e would get you in the 400rwhp range with 17-18psi and be a little more responsive than the t04s. Let me see if I can find some turbo specs......

Bacon 11-26-2002 01:30 AM

dont like the E just sounds so puny to the S...heheh

oops almost forgot to mention...when im older and RICHER i plan to turn up the boost and see what she really can do--24-5 psi

my previous and near purchase was the gt 35/40, and was planning on racing her like vosko (but faster https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR 18/25+ street/track psi ) i mean it almost feels like a waste of the ports, but hey i can live with a little lag for more top end...i hear a 60-1 is what i want... any ideas?

is the t04s a 60-1?? **** for all i knwo abt these ****** cars u think i would know turbos...

Dragon 11-26-2002 06:13 AM

A to4S and 60-1 are basically the same turbo, the only diffrence is how they make the back side of the compressor wheel so you can't use the 60-1 wheel in the S to over haul it unless you buy the back plate to go with it... I think you'd be happy with a 60-1 A/R 70 compressor and A/R 1.0 exaust with a P-Trim shaft.. That turbo should get you around 420-450 at 15-18 psi and 500 when you turn up the boost later on if your port is good... You may find your self needing a little more fuel in the future if you do boost over 18 psi...

Bacon 11-26-2002 11:29 AM

would there be any noticible difference between a 1.00 and a 1.15 hot side?

or should i just go with 1.00 for now and later if i need it swap it to the 1.15?

thanks dragon...ohh whats the diff between the p trim, q trim and all those wheels...

thanks again

Bacon 11-26-2002 05:17 PM

ok so it looks like i want a

60-1, divided housind, .70 comp ptrim 1.00 hot side

anyone got a good price (dragon?) or know of a good hook up?

Dragon 11-26-2002 06:22 PM

P trim is the size of the exaust wheel, I would recommend Q-trim if you were going to run a large bridge port, but the P trim will be much nicer on the street. The A/R 1.0 exaust will be better because the boost will come on sooner and give you a much better power band where as the 1.15 will be more likely to produce it's power top end causing you too loose tork and hp in the midrange where you need it for everyday driving.. You can also run in to the problem of the A/R 1.15 housing not fitting in the space provided by the manifold, I know that the 1.15 will not fit on my HKS manifold because it will hit the lower intake...

I have a T04s i may part with. I was going to use it but I think I want something bigger like a t66:yum:

Maybe Dragon can chime in here and give me some ideas.

My turbo needs a rebuild due to some (.080") shaft play. Shoot me a PM if you are interested.

Well when I had my To4R apart recently we measured it in at 66.8mm inducer and 84mm exducer... :bigthumg: or you could go with somthing slightly bigger like a T-68 from Turbonetics...

BigTurbo74 11-27-2002 01:29 PM

godamn dragon knows a lot of ****! but i beat u gettin sick of answering everyones' questions huh? how u learn bout all the turbo trims and specs? expierence or sites? if u know any sites postem so we can all learn of the mystifying dynamics of that the great turbo.... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif

Dragon 11-27-2002 08:36 PM

Mostly just from playing with them... Rutt is the turbo GOD, but he pretty much only hangs out in the Japan section.. He can tell you anything about a turbo... Somday when I'm bored and have time.. (LOL that'll never Happen..) I'll try and put together a Fact page or chart or somthing with diffrent sizes etc of turbos...

BigTurbo74 11-28-2002 02:35 AM

haha sounds good https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

wptrx7 11-28-2002 08:50 AM

hey bacon i don't know where you plan on purchasing the t04s, but if you look on rx7store, it seems the price went up. its about 100 or so less than a t78 and about 300 less than a gt 35/40. i to want a single turbo and don't want to go to small just incase i want more. hook up with vosko and ihor before you purchase and get a ride, (i plan on it when i get cash together and ready to purchase).

I think a 60-1 from turbonetics will run around $1,100 or so, not sure what the to4S's from the other places are running.. the 62-1 used to be around $1,250 or so and is supposed to flow around 10% more air than the to4s/60-1... Those prices were from a couple years ago, so I'm not sure what they run now.. O' and To4E's were around $800 or so also...

JadedX 11-28-2002 09:37 PM

god damn i feel stupid as **** reading this :squint:

Every one has to start somplace.. Hang around and learn from us guys who have been doing this a while.. It'll save you time and $ in the long run...

jspecracer7 11-30-2002 07:59 PM

Wow, where was I when this thread surfaced?!!!!????

Either way, I once didn't know **** on turbine's. I'm STILL learning a lot from Rutt/Dragon/Igy....my "CAR GODS" if you will. If you asked me the difference between a 60-1 and a T-04S 2 years ago, I would have told you to **** off. Now I have SEEN the differences and READ them as well.

Go with the T-04S...or a 62-1. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif

Dragon 12-01-2002 11:32 AM

I always do my own, but do a search for turbo overhaul on google and you'll get a bunch of places...
