so how do u guys tune? just try and get the best a/f ratio through the whole rpm range? and what about timing do u guys touch those maps?

i drove around to get the non boost part ok, than i went to the dyno and used the wide band. the timing is pretty much stock hitman right now. look at the timing map for the power fc, that will give you the gist of wht it should look like

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png but wait till ur done! its gonna be a blast.

All i ever see on the streets is bolts ons, and people consider that tuned/modifed around here, LOL. the import scene is not that huge around here, which is nice cuz i don't plan on being able to get beat on the streets around here https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

Vosko today you take a shot at driving in the hwy and ill play with the keyboard...

Steve I would suggest you behave. because if you buy yourself a nice FD your going to have to pay me a visit...

If you fine tune it on the dyno your going to be pushing it to far on the street, in the dyno you dont really have the wind effect and it doesnt simulate the aero like you will on the hwy. I'd get it fairly close(but still a tad rich) on the dyno then fine tune it on the street.

STEPHEN

I got a question about, thats what i've heard too, but how would i turn on the street w/o a wideband o2?
you can't do it safely without a wideband.....
yeah ive learned a lot rich or lean feel the same

mike
So in MY case im just gonna have to tune on the dyno. But how could i make it suffice for on the road? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif tune a little rich or what?
Actually man, for what you'll spend getting a REALLY good tune on a dyno you could prob almost pay for a wideband. You can get a FJO for around $700 or the OZ DIY wideband for like $450 prebuilt. The DIY use to be a kit to build yourself but now they sell them prebuilt as well. Someone tested it on the dyno with the o2 sensor mounted in the end of the dp(opposite end from turbo) and it came out to be within .1 of the extremely expensive dyno wideband. If it was mounted in the mp it would probably be right on. The DIY is heat sensitive and the hotter it is it isnt as accurate. Thats why you mount it so far down.

Anyway, what does it cost in your area for dyno time where they are actually tuning? If you need a lot of tuning you could be there all day.

Just buy a wideband and start asking around and reading a lot about tuning. If you buy a good name brand wb it might cost a little more than the dyno time but if you ever chg your set up a little you can retune for free if you have a wideband. Or if you just want to check your a/f during weather changes from going to winter to summer, ect.

i might just have to get one of those soon. So why would anyone buy the FJO one if the DIY one is better and prebuilt?

Well, I dont know that the DIY is better, but it is good. You can get extras with the FJO like you can hook it into a Palm and stuff like that.....but those bells and whistles starts bumping up the price. I cant remember what all you can get with it for $750. Vosco can tell you he just bought a FJO
