The compressor housing gets quite hot which makes the filter's rubber collar hot which caused the collar to tear under the weight of the filter. So, I stuck on a GReddy AirINX. Is this the way to go?

Turbomark7 05-24-2003 05:12 PM

Here's another view. My space is limited.

FikseRxSeven 05-24-2003 05:18 PM

what is that connected to your intercooler?

TyresmokinRx7 05-24-2003 05:54 PM

It looks like the water tank to the radiators coolent, but I could be wrong

phinsup 05-24-2003 06:00 PM

Looks like it will hold up better, I ha a similar filter on my vert, was an HKS, after a year or two from the heat it got really brittle and just fell apart, but it's better then falling off LOL

MazdaMike 05-24-2003 06:09 PM

greddy is a good setup but yea what is that thing attached to ur i/c im very curious

Shane.Trammell 05-24-2003 06:37 PM

you should ask before you buy stuff!!

little rotor 05-24-2003 08:47 PM

It looks to me like the air/air IC has been converted to water/air and thats an ice box sitting next to it. An ideal setup for drags. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

93 R1 05-24-2003 08:51 PM

Damn a T66 with Air to Water, Not bad at all https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

You should be fine with that setup

Turbomark7 05-24-2003 09:29 PM

Yep -

That's in my sig - GReddy SMIC converted to liquid cooling. I use a JABSCO pump to circulate the coolant thru the I/C and its own radiator. But, the friggin' turbo compressor gets hot

Turbomark7 05-24-2003 09:44 PM

Sorry for the large image - Chris Ott did make several 400+HP pulls at 400, 402, and 405. I don't know why I ended up with the 397HP https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png , but hell, I'm a happy sum-beetch. The car is fast and reliable (for now).

93 R1 05-24-2003 09:50 PM

Mild Street port?

Turbomark7 05-24-2003 10:14 PM

Engine is from a '94 JDM R&R'd by RX7.com. It's only a stock port w/ 2mm seals. I was going to do a street port w/ 3mm seals but I became

terminally ill before completion of the engine. I probably won't be able to drive much longer and I decided not to spend all the extra money

for the extra performance mods. I just wanted to get this thing finished and on the road and enjoy it for awhile. It'll get sold eventually, but until then,

we'll run it and take care of it. The engine is quite strong.

93 R1 05-24-2003 10:26 PM

Damn sorry to hear that man https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png

I was thinking stock or small port, but thats pretty good power for no porting. Drive the **** out of it, while you can https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

94touring 05-24-2003 10:33 PM

Nice setup. Sorry to hear about your illness. Noticed your B-day is in 57, don't see many older guys with fully modded seven's often.

I've been involved w/ the RX7 since way back - I was "sport compact" before sport compact was cool https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/cool.png - had a '87 VW GTI 16V. Still have a Corrado VR6 https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/40oz.gif

GarageBoy 05-25-2003 05:51 PM

Looking Good! Keep it oiled! Would a heat shield help in anyway?

Turbomark7 05-26-2003 01:43 AM

Heat shield is on the turbo and the DP is wrapped w/ DEI wrap. I'll post a clearer pic when I get home.

We're working 'cause too many idiots can't party w/o overeating or gettin' too f***'ed up on booze and

dope and needing to come up to surgery. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

you know...... a picture of your car is in www.fikse.com

FikseRxSeven 05-26-2003 09:13 PM

http://www.fikse.com/yourcar/street40.html ill trade you my fm5's for those

Turbomark7 05-27-2003 01:37 PM

Hehe,

Actually, that's not my car @ Fikse but rather for a dude named Craig B. Zaller who is entering his car for the "Ultimate Street Cahllenge" competition in the July issue of Sport Compact Car magazine, page 138. I see that he has done a buncha stuff w/ PFS. Unfortunately for him, as per his naive "smacktalk", he hasn't done enough preparation evidenced by "his numbers." https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif No stock turbo system will give him 380 HP at the flywheel or the rear wheels. He mentions no fuel system preps - fuel pump, injectors and no turbo improvement - the big things we all talk about.

His car looks nice enough. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/bigthumb.gif

GarageBoy 05-27-2003 09:58 PM

ohh..

I hope you enjoy it!

rfreeman27 05-27-2003 10:19 PM

is that the PFS wing? I never see any pics of it from that angle

Turbomark7 05-27-2003 10:32 PM

Yep - it's a PFS wing.

I just got back in from a cruise 'round town. We loaded up a our usual mix of aviation gas and turned up the boost.

I'll mod my signature for all my mods like I have on the other forum.

How does the Borla midpipe work out? My PFS catback is blown and I'm thinkin' of goin' w/ an ApexI N1 single and a resonated midpipe. I want the power, the looks, and a deeper, mellow, powerful tone.

TYSON 05-27-2003 11:05 PM

Apex'i doesn't know how to weld. At least on the N1 dual I've seen.

Go with a Borla in the midpipe and have them make you a Borla catback at the same time. It will probably be cheaper, and you can get it all out of stainless. I'm thinking hard about selling my HKS Hyper Carbon Ti and doing this.

93 R1 05-28-2003 07:16 AM

I've seen Craigs car in person its pretty nice but I don't think its gonna win the ultimate street car challenge

rfreeman27 05-28-2003 03:39 PM

lol welp i dont have the borla MP yet https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png

it will come soon though, got all my cash tied up in something else at the molment.

got any more pics of the wing? none of the pics i see do it justice.

turborl7 05-28-2003 04:52 PM

happened to me before, the only reason it would do that is if you had the clamp on to tight that it was pinching into the rubber. Don't tighten the clamp too tight.

94touring 05-28-2003 04:59 PM

I'd stay away from the apexi exhaust system, way too loud and crappy sounding. Go m2 or racing beat dual, sounds great, looks great, and performs good too.

GarageBoy 05-28-2003 05:49 PM

The rs*r looks good!
