It happens when there is too much shaft play, the fins grab hold of the housing.
At the diesel shop if you have a bent fin the compressor will explode from spinning at such high RPMs until full boost and the balance of it being off.. These must not spin at as much RPM though..

Ok so the SSQ I had installed was the universal one that had a ****** hose fitting that was the diameter of you thumb. It wasn't even straight. So with 14.5 lbs over two years it hit one day....and did I know it! sounded like fingernails on a blackboard.

But hey it still ran and I kept going. Now, it doesn't seem to have much end play so thats why it still runs with out continuing to damage.

Oh, and the exhaust ports I said **** it cuase its nothing but big and here is the intake close up.

Art - Dr. Freddie sez "these connectors from your wiring harness about to be 'repaired' w/ a razor blade. Say adios to the emissions ****, say buenos dias to mo' power".

All the manifold is in. Its ported to match Ito's port.I powder coated all the U.I.M and I.C. and I.C. water tank candy apple...even though it may not look like it in the pic.I ceramic coated the L.I.M. with I high heat barrier ceramic so it doesnt come in red but it will be hidden behind the turbo and piping any way. The water pump, altenator and accesseries are in flat black against the new black bay.

It may work it may not .......
