It comes down to simplicity and atonable charge temp.
Obviously a correctly setup air to water will be beneficial in keeping a stable charge temp, but the charge temp will naturally increase over a properly setup air to air there is no way around it unless you add on top of that a refrigeration system.
On the plus side of a air to water you can markedly decrease volume in the charge line decreasing lag, which a lot of rotary guys don’t seem to consider with their excessive lengths of tubing and oversized ICs.
