WTF? why at the touch of a button????! a compressor can run all the time, its a closed loop of gas being compressed and decompressed over and over again, you arent useing up and resourses, besides stealing 5 hp from the engine to work the ac compressor. You can have it on all the time. And even though it can add 50 hp by cooling the IC for example, with a slightly more advanced system with multiple cooling jackets you can cool air, water and your turbo (by cooling the oil the cools it).

yes at a touch of a button ford puts a soleniod valve to cut off flow to the evap in the intake because think about it if you still want ac in the car you will have to turn this off because if will pull more heat out of the air for the engine rather than the inside of you car

but all in all i think it should work good you just have to fab up the box or whatever around your evapand make some lines just think if it work good enough oyu could remove the ic but i would leave it on

hey a good ac system will cool down the interior of a car to 65 degrees so it would be nice

the interior of a car is not a heat generating atmosphere, all the A/C does is transfer the heat out of the compartment tha tis already there. imagine turning the heat on in your car running the same time that your A/C is on, then tell me how efficient it is...

I beg to differ sir. Get a few people in your car and start driving around in the middle of the summer, sun is cooking the car from outside, people are making body heat, I assure you it is a heat generating enviroment.

also the voluem of air in the intake manafold is MUCH smaller then the interior of the car.

and finaly dont teach me me about ac efficiency, I have made systems that cool chips that heat up to over 150C and brought them down to -40C. With the right setup I can bring the intake manafold tamps down to -20C, all it will take is a cascade setup, which is not that hard to make.

you are working with 2 different enviorments here, a computer is a completey different animal than an engine bay. What I am referring to is that the evaporator of an A/C system is enclosed in a compartment that is not surrounded by heat, if you move it to the engine bay, and build your compartment around the intercooler piping as you mentioned, not only will it have to deal with the heat of the boosted air, but the compartment it is in will heat soak as well. Especially on a turbocharged car. Most of the exhaust housings I have seen after a full boost high speed run are bright cherry red enough to cook on. Add that to the heat being pulled through the radiator and all the other heat producing systems under the hood and you are looking at some hot stuff. I have seen a T51s turbo acctually heat up the metal flake on a hood so much that it has seperated from the paint, even with thermal insulation on the underside of the hood. It gets hot under there my friend

....I have thought about doing that when I was like 5.....
ok man...

If you thought it was a good idea when you were 5...then im sure it would be done all the time. Dont you think auto manufacturs are looking for cheep ways to make power? If this was a really good system it would be mainstream...

Its too complicated. Stop dreaming about stuff like this and worry about something that will actually help your car go faster.

BTW do you have a rotary? because the way you preach it makes it seem like you have 20 years experance.

150c would fry anything in a computer.

150c = 302F

whoa! 150c?!?!?!?! I work with communications on a daily basis. I've seen modems that at 30c they shut off...Modems don't need cooling like computers...so whatever chips are being used...they're bad *** since 100c is BOILING.
