ihor, i still haven't driven your car, but it sounds nice! i heard you getting on it when you were driving with chris carlisi.

on the timing thing. haltech is a pain, though justin is pretty good. setting up the timing on the haltech was a pain on my car at least partially because of the msd's. but the other thing was making sure the timing was physically locked in with the haltech at 5 degrees BTDC. you have to tell the haltech where the timing is physically, so when you set timing its adding/subtracting from the right place. then, we had the problem of rising or falling edge, which wasn't clear from anything haltech or msd said. i have my setup as falling edge, direct fire, internal reluctor, constant charge and 3 ms charge time and it works great. jon, what are you using for an ignition system? -gordon

Gordon,

I think that Vosko's using MSD's as well. Correct me if I'm wrong Jon!

i was just wonderinf because we occasionally see fd's with bad crank angle sensors. the symptom on a stoock car is that it will ping under load. on an e6k car iif you datalogged it you would see the rpms rise and then fall and then be back where they were. it pings because the map at 5k rpm is differnt than the map at 7k.

jon, first, have you put a scope on it? you want to be sure you are getting a good clean signlal and that the square wave is square. also, are you set for internal relcutor or hall effect and do you use the msd signal conditioners or not. they originally had me using the signal conditioners and the hall effect type setting. we pulled them off and went with internal reluctor. pull up your maps and see what your settings are and let me know? thanks. -gordon
