Does Garrett make them or do the vendors assemble them?

Rotaryman88 04-10-2003 07:32 PM

Vendors assemble the kits....we have them, but the turbos are bought separately directly from Garrett, the wastegates are also bought separately, and then everything else such as the lines, manifold, bolts,etc...are fabricated.

Does anyone use ss pipes? Thanks!

GarageBoy 04-11-2003 06:07 PM

oops, I meant what materials are the pipes made from

vosko 04-11-2003 06:19 PM

aspec uses SS manifold and downpipe

Rotaryman88 04-11-2003 06:34 PM

Our kits used to be SS, but stainless steel is actually weaker then the 3.8mm mild steel we use now. Our kits are ceramic coated 3.8mm mild steel that has yet to break on the dyno. SS kits begin having stress fractures and cracks on the manifold during high pressure or long periods of use....

vosko 04-11-2003 06:40 PM

i dunno my greddy SS works great and i have yet to hear of one failing !

GarageBoy 04-11-2003 08:16 PM

But when the coatings come off, won't they rust?

Rotaryman88 04-12-2003 01:56 PM

We haven't had the coating come off yet...at least nobody has complained about that yet. We can do SS manifolds, it's just that when we have to worry about warranty work, it seems that more SS manifolds came back then the MS ones...when dyno testing the SS manifold cracked and the MS manifold didn't...it's all preference I guess. personally, I'm going with MS.

GarageBoy 04-12-2003 06:19 PM

ok, thanks!

Do you guys use equal length tubular manifolds or cast manifolds? If you don't use tubular manifolds, do you know where one could be purchased or could you guys include one in the kit if the customer asked for one?

ILUVMY88CABRIO 04-13-2003 12:20 AM

FC3S.org sells a GT 23/40 kit for $2900. I'm not too sure about the manifold they use though. Here is a link...

Rotaryman88 04-14-2003 11:30 AM

Sorry it took me so long to post back. Our kits are all equal length tubular manifolds and not cast. I was trying to find out more information on the FC3S.ORG kits...but I haven't heard back yet...I believe they use regular MS manifolds...I could be wrong though.

GarageBoy 04-14-2003 04:35 PM

rotaryman, do you have a link to your site?

milkman2k52 04-15-2003 03:20 PM

if you click the little www button below his post that should take you to his site https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

GarageBoy 04-15-2003 09:57 PM

I can't find the link in his sig!

RX7CMS 04-15-2003 10:08 PM

its 1320engineering.com

Rotaryman88 04-16-2003 04:46 PM

Yea, sorry the link isn't in my sig, I didn't want to make the admin's upset because they might see it as advertising, and I haven't paid for the sponsorship here yet(but i will shortly...)

GarageBoy 04-16-2003 08:03 PM

thanks!

Rotaryman88 04-16-2003 08:51 PM
