I went up to KD Rotary today. After sorting out why my boost controller wasn't working (wire broke) Dave strapped her to the dyno and started tuning. He did 20 pulls in all. The first bunch involved taking fuel out of the midrange and making sure the top end didn't lean out. They were done at 10 psi, and I made about 320 hp once it was properly tuned. After some time to cool down, it was time to have some fun. Dave turned up the boost to 15 psi, and put down 427.7 hp. It was almost right. Dave tweaked it a little more and on the next run we put down 430.8 hp and 332.2 lb/ft or torque. Boost spiked to about 17 psi initially and then held at 15-15.5 psi. I was very impressed, as I was hoping to make 400. I guess this shows the difference that a big street port can do. This was on Sunoco 94 octane pump gas. Dave said I'm at about the limit of my stock ignition system, and there maybe 4-5 hp to gain with something like a twinpower. Once I get the ignition and a 3 bar map sensor I plan to dyno at 20 psi or more on race gas. Basically I want to hit 500 hp. Overall I am very happy with the turbo. I got it for hundreds less than something else comparable thats out there. It spools very fast, almost like stock twins in my opinion. If you are in the correct gear, there is no lag. I eyed my rpm and boost briefly on my drive home. I remember seeing 15 psi around 3500 rpm or so In 4th gear when I got on it from maybe a 65-70 mph roll. I fooled around a bit on the highway, playing with the boost, and turned down the balance a bit to reduce spiking. I put the car away for the rest of the night because it started to drizzle. Hopefully it will be nicer tomorrow so I can do more testing.

Yeah, those are great numbers. It makes me wonder if I should have gotten that kit instead of my crazy idea. That reminds me: I need to take pictures.

I got it from Tim at the RPM Performance Center before A-Spec Tuning became the US distributor.

I'll let you know after I take some pictures. It should work out pretty well, but I want to take my time. I also decided that I should buy a 2nd car before I start just in case it takes longer than I plan.
