Natas unfortunately because they are using your stock turbo you won't be able to go with an external wastegate. The good part though is that because it's your stock turbo it will bolt directly to your stock manifold. The only modification you may need to do is have a spacer put on so that it has room to fit in the space between the engine and fender(pushes it up higher so that it will have the required space).

Well I was looking at the HKS T04E kit and it looks really nice but is kind of pricey. Now if I did a custom job I was wondering if it would be better. For instance I got a quote from BNR on this:

60-1 compressor wheel

T04B dynamic Package

360 thrust package

15 degree clipped turbine

ported wastegate

ported turbine housing entrance

all new piston rings/bearings ect.

balanced and blueprinted

1 year warranty

Now the quote I got for this is to send my turbo in and they do the above to it. The cost is $700. With this setup I was also thinking of getting a external wastegate....

Do you guys think this would be a better way to go? Also the above should fit right in a require little modification/s.

That will bolt right in without much modification, but 350 HP will be at or above the limits of that setup. It will DEFINITELY be a big improvement over stock, especially with the standalone ECU. Just make sure that your wastegate is ported. I would recommend it as a start.

Great start IMO. Is your engine ported?

Ok guys here's the verdict on what I am doing:

I talked to Don Marvel of www.marvelspeed.com about everything and he said in his experience that its better to go with a full turbo rather than a hybrid....plus Don know's that I will probally want more power in the end. Kind of funny tho, when I first got my car it needed a rebuild so I went to don. He suggested I get a street port and I said...no that's just extra....I am not going to do anything to it other than keep it stock. Well he convinced me to get a nice good street port and I am happy as hell I went that way.

So anyway don told me if I got a Hybrid I would probally want more in the long run....why not get something bigger now and run low boost?

So we decided on a 60-1 Turbo with a Tial Wastegate and one of his special customized manifolds. Don claims that this manifold blows away the HKS and other commercial products.

I may go over to Don's tomorrow to get pic's of the manifold that he completed for me today. We are waiting for the Turbo to come in then we are dropping it all in on Saturday.

Until I get a haltech I will probally run no more than 8psi. I have 2 720 secondaries and a Walbro fuel pump...but we don;t want to push it until I get the haltech.....but when I do get the haltech it will be on! I'm going to run 12-14psi with the haltech (controlled by my Apex-i Super AVCR!)

natas 12-11-2002 10:48 PM
