Is it because when your clutch explodes the firewall is normally inline with the shrapnel?

the only negative would be more weight slightly farther forward, right?

yeah, but if you can feel 20lbs moving 12" forward, you should be in f1

Hassan 03-07-2004 09:32 PM

I really need to read the rule book. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Same goes for the NOS solenoids. They cannot be mounted on firewall. Big no no.

I am still trying to get past the fact that you cut your front frame. I am not flaming it just seems like such a major breach of the cars chasis integrity.

thats the same thing i said when i looked at it..."did he really cut his frame" that doesnt seem like a good idea at all i think your chassis is gonna flex alot more now.

Hassan 03-09-2004 05:50 PM

Now where did I cut the frame? The only thing that is cut in my car is the radiator support. The frame was not touched. I am not in the favor of cutting the frame either. If i have to for some reason, I will weld in a bar in its place. (Have lots of rollbar tubing, tubing bender and a TIG https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR )

Hassan 03-09-2004 05:54 PM

BTW Jim,

What wheels are those on your car?

frame...rad support same diff..haha. but seriously wouldnt that make it flex more? wouldnt the top of where the rad support used to be flex in and out under hard cornering? i mean its sort of the same concept as to why people use strut bars to tie together the strut towers with a strut tower bar...correct me if im wrong, just a thought.

Hassan 03-10-2004 12:59 PM

Actually there is a big bar that is there from the factory for the same purpose. The radiator support is actually not that stiff. But I am sure i lost a bit of support but then i addded (also welded in) a bracket under the car to hold the radiator in. It is actually stiffer than what i cut out.

You don't have to enclose it. Just need something between you and the tank.

My tank is mounted using the factory mounting points, we made brakets to fit it. The only cutting done to the car was a smalle hole for filling the gas...

Did you get a chrome gas cap so you know where to put the gas in, too? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

I have a trapdoor in my hatch to put the gas in.

yeah, theres that bar, but your still losing the structure up top. i guess its fine, i was just wondering. looks good other wise, good luck. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/spam.gif

Hassan 03-10-2004 03:48 PM

Like i said... one support was taken off and another was added.

1Revvin7 03-10-2004 03:59 PM

Any pixs of this trap door?

nice swap. impressive custom turbo setup...

Hassan 03-27-2004 07:46 AM

Thanks...

Wouldn't the cone filter being mounted right next to the engine bring in too much heat, or would the fan be bringing in enough cold air?

Hassan 04-10-2004 09:58 AM

Yes this is a concern but it is not that much worse than using the HKS manifold. But we are going to place the filter where the battery goes. Kind of a cold air intake setup.

RONIN FC 04-10-2004 01:31 PM

Impressive numbers, especially considering your low boost levels. Very nice. Any pics of your ports?

Hassan 04-11-2004 10:31 AM

Haha... i do.
