I was wondering what everyone here is running on street tires. Not drag radials, not slicks, I don't want to hear crap about et street, or the Nitto's or Bf's drag radials........just treaded street tires. 60' times, MPH and so on. I'm curious to know what the single turbo guys are running. :smirk:

All of these responses to you question should tell you somhting about your question...

Ie. we don't run street tires because if you do you will die or total your RX-7 if it's making power.

I've tried a few different types of tires. The setup I like the best is to run a normal or high quality tire up front, something that will last a long time and give good performace and is also something that will work in rain. For the rear I use kumho ecsta 700's (auto-x and road race). They have some tread to help in the rain, they last a good while in normal use if you were to daily drive, and they hook up just as good as the nitto drag radial. I tried the nitto's, but they are designed for drag racing and provide horrible handling response, they also only last a few thousand miles of normal driving use. I then tried some bf kdw's, these are great tires but can't handle 400hp. They spin like crazy and you will lose control. I ended up keeping them on the front since they are very responsive to handling and offer good mileage.

well i don't expect 9 second runs. But definitely some high 11's and low 12's. this i know because, i have driven the cars and been a passenger. your point makes no sense, because during a recent road race event, my car didn't get all squirmy on my Yoko A-520. Top of 2-3-4 th gears. full straight line acceleration, just like a drag race. I've also scored 1.94-2.0 60' times with my Yoko's........HHHmmmm maybe we just know what we're doing in Texas.
