Well if you want a good drag car will minimal lag then GT35/40 is the way to go.. but you have to understand that dumping 4k on the turbo kit isn't all there is to it.. and you will not need 2 bov's unless you use something puny and useless like a Greddy type-s or HKS SSBOV. Use will also need:
clutch: $500 easily 1600 fuel injectors: $300 fuel rail: $200 SX regulator: $180 bigger SS fuel lines/filter: $400 strong fuel pump: $300 at least engine management (Power FC, Motec, Haltech): $1200-2000 intercooler setup: $1000-1600 And then you will be breaking stuff very easily with that much power (PPF, diff, tranny.. who knows). Anyone who goes online and looks at a turbo kit thinking that the initial investment in the kit is all that is needed has much to learn.. and I know everyone here can corroborate this. I am not trying to dash your hopes, I just want to make sure you know what you are getting into. Matt |
mjw is right on. I curse myself again for getting the HKS ss bov.

$700 on a fuel kit (injectors rails fpr etc)
$2500 on a single kit (cheapest, dp, tial 44mm wg, ss manifold. etc) engine management microtech: $1300 intercooler setup greddy 3 row: $1000 tial 50mm bov $220 I spent this much already for a gt35r setup with 850/1600cc with custom rails. thats not incl tuning and drivetrain. Single turbo adds up. im not even incl boost controller (blitz sbc i-color) or gagues (apexi el2) or even solid mounts. |
I believe the GT35R is the best all around single turbo. It has little lag and you can push a lot of power through it. It is also expensive! But hey, If you are going to spend the $$ to go single why not get what what you want?
I also suggest if you are planning on doing this to an engine with a lot of miles that you get it rebuilt. I have seen people single motors with over 90k miles on them. If you have only the 5k to spend I would save it for when the motor needs help. It will. If you do go single please do it right so you don't blow your motor! There are a lot of people on the forum here that can help you with that https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/happy.gif GL! |
The best street turbo isnt on the above list.
Gt35/40. Could easily make 400+ at ther rears, full boost as early as 3000rpm. Oh before you do anything. If your engine hasnt been rebuilt. Get it rebuilt first. |
if i had deep pockets and no problem with money then it would definately be T51R SPL... **** sounds insane..
but realistically ive had great results with the GT35/40 turbos.. so... |
