This manifold is meant for the FD

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...item=2403763491

I know this will bolt on to a FC but the problem would be clerances to the chassis and intake manifold when the turbo get installed. I"m thinking of upgrading to a divided manifold but dont' want to deal with clearance problem with this manifold.

rxpower 02-19-2003 05:55 PM

you will have no problems my brother in law used it in his 93

it is a bad ass manifold. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

turborotor 02-19-2003 05:56 PM

Well i know it should work on a 93 but the FC has a different intake manifold not shaped sharply up like the FD.

rxpower 02-19-2003 07:18 PM

oh sorry I didn't see that it said fc i read it fast I don't know but I'll ask for you :bigok:

rx7tt95 02-19-2003 09:03 PM

I've seen this manifold in person as well and quality wise, it's better than the GReddy manifold that comes with the T78 kit. It's fully divided and the runners are larger than the GReddy unit as well. I believe it's designed to take an HKS style wastegate.

Yeah Brian at Rotorsports was telling me about this header, said it was very good quality. He had also mentioned fitting it for an FC he was working on.

vosko 02-19-2003 09:25 PM

hey i have no complaints about my T78 manifold lol

94touring 02-19-2003 09:40 PM

Hey Vosko, you got any pics of the t-78 manifold before you installed it or anything?

turborotor 02-19-2003 10:18 PM

Keep me updated guys. I belive in the quality of this exhaust manifold, just want to know if i'll have clearance problem if installed in a FC.

rx7tt95 02-20-2003 09:22 PM

The local rotary specialist is getting a few of these in tomorrow. I'll ask about FC fitment and try and get a pic of the T78 and this manifold side by side. My "old" T78 manifold isn't fully divided. The brand new T78 manifold at the shop is fully divided. Strange....

Oh, they're selling the manifolds for $600 and they're producing a mostly complete kit (all the major components, turbo, manfiold, downpipe, wastegate) for $2200 or so using a T04S. Not sure if there are rules about posting this kind of stuff here...I know it'd get me kicked off the "other" forum. The shop is Compact Car Performance in Naples, Florida and their number is 239-354-0442

You are so BANNED!! Haha, man thats one hell of a sweet deal :bigok: Take lots of pics, i'd love to see that setup and quality.

turborotor 02-21-2003 11:29 AM

Not a bad deal either. Let me know about the fit if i slap in a 60-1 with that manifold.

rx7tt95 02-21-2003 01:25 PM

I know it's a T4 style flange...thing is, they just put a bunch of these manifolds up on Ebay. Compact Car has no idea how they're selling them so inexpensively. The 'buy now' option is only $275. Crazy. Anyway, Compact Car is calling this place up and may just place an order through them which would in turn lower the price of the kit. We'll see...I'll try and get more info on the kits today when I'm over there.

ok, so if you have an turbo FC with an FD intake, this mani will work??

rx7tt95 02-28-2003 09:33 PM

the local shop just received one of these manifolds yesterday. As previously stated, the quality is pretty good. Two issues I see with this manifold. First, the primaries are 2.5" in diameter, bigger than the GReddy or any other tubular manifold. That'll slow the exhaust gasses down before reaching the turbine. Two, it's designed to take the HKS "standard" wastegate, which I believe, can handle a finite amount of "hp" which may be why they say 400hp on the ebay site.

vspecpgt 03-01-2003 09:55 AM

hey michel, i just ordered one of these manifolds along with a power FC... after i pay that off i'll be looking at getting a turbo, wastegate and downpipe... if your guy is going to make some type of kit that would be awesome... anyway i'll be calling you, cause i'll prob need your help sizing a turbo that will make a decent amount of power but still fit without hitting the frame rail or the intake manny. i'm only looking to make right around the 400 hp mark with a streetable turbo, so i am thinking the standard wastegate will be fine.

turborotor 03-01-2003 01:25 PM

Thanks Cheers, looks like is not worth it. I'll stick with my hks undivided cast manifold.

rx7tt95 03-01-2003 05:53 PM

Did you already buy the manifold? If not I have one for sale, $290 including shipping. This is what I paid for it. The ebay guy apparently bought an entire crate of these which is why it's being offered at what is essentially cost. No problem sizing a turbo. Just give me or Compact Cars a call. I've been over there the past few days dropping off manifolds and working on my engine. They've been doing a T78 and motor port on a silver FD that's there. The owner is going all out. If you're in Naples, you should stop by the shop.

Michel

vspecpgt 03-01-2003 06:50 PM

yea i already bought it... should be here this coming week, got it shipped for 225! should hopefully be home again in the next few weeks... i'll give you a call and stop by when i am, hopefully john will have is oil fitting by then and can cruise down with me...

i still think that manifold is good... its fully divided.

too bad it hits the lower intake manifodl on the S5 engines. also S4 too

and the Fd lower intake won't bolt to the s5 lower... u can however use the FD upper for the s5 upper intake

you can always get creative. this is how my buddy Ungo is doing his. i know its in a full chasis car, but maybe you can get some ideas. one old idea was to put a spacer between the block and manifold. this was a *better* way to go...

Cheers! 03-10-2003 05:04 PM

but that space makes a divided manifold into an undivided manifold...

rxrotary2_7 03-16-2003 05:57 AM

the turbo being used is undivided.
