ok when im going about 45+ and i push in the clutch or put it in neutral it gets really bad vibrations. i was thinking my drive shaft was bad. but i dont know. so what is it and where can i get one?

 

Could be the u joints

 

Yeah, check the u joints to see if theres give/'rattle'. If they are bad, you either need to get a new/used driveshaft, or take the driveshaft to a machine shop to have the change out the u joints/modifiy the driveshaft because the u joints arent directly replacable.



Does it vibrate any other time?

 

Go under the car, and at the transmission slip yoke side of the driveshaft, grab the U-joint and shake it. There should be NO play. Look for cracking in the casting too. Do the same thing at the rear diff flange U-joint. No play allowed. Well, it's allowed but the slightest amount of play = vibration.





DO NOT NEGLECT this.



I let a driveshaft vibration go for about 3 weeks before I did anything about it. It was slowly getting worse.



Turns out the excess vibration cracked the casting at the slip yoke, and at any minute it was ready to let go and make some dents under my car, if not wreck anything. I was fortunate that it held out until I replaced it.

 

i got under my car and was trying to move the driveshaft, and there was no play in eigther side of it. could it be something in my tranny?

 

dude its not going to be your driveshaft if it only vibrates when you push in the clutch or put it in nuetral... its just going to vibrate no matter what if your going over 45... your drivshaft doesnt stop turning when you put it in nuetral going at speed. could be your trans. , clutch, throw out bearing, hell it could be that your wheels are just out of balance...

 

do you take your FC off roading? my buddy worked on a guy's lancer which vibrated really bad, turns out, he had a ton of mud on the inside of his tire that was throwing his tire off balance.

 

My advice I offered up earlier, I was assuming it was vibrating all the time, not only when clutch in, etc..

 

well after taking a second look at everything, my rear diff mount is broke. could that cause all of this viberating? i pulled it out and im having a friends put some solid studs between the the 2 metal peices so it dont break again. hope thats the problem.
