I've had my FD for about a year now and in the mornings my rpms have always jumped to 3000 like they are supposed to on a cold start however the last 10 times I've started my car it hasn't been doing that. I recently had a coolant change and I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. Does anyone know what could be causing this and is it a sign of any other mechanical problems??

What is it doing instead of jumping straight to 3k?

I doubt it had anything to do with the coolant change, because I just had my whole coolant system apart and had the radiator pressure tested. It is all back together now and it still jumps to 3000rpm on a cold start.

Well in the past it has done this a few times but never this many. Instead of jumping to 3000 it slowly rises to about 2000rpm, stays for a few seconds then slowly drops to about 1500 then finally to 1000 as it warms. Usually it jumps quickly up to 3000 and I have to depress the accelerator to get it to come down. The idle is fine, around 800.

If you have the car in 1st gear when you start it the AWS will be disabled. Is it possible that you held it in gear when starting? If not I suppose the AWS solinoid that is on the manifold is not working properly. It does not mean there is anything else wrong with your car. If anything I would take it as a hint and axe the AWS like most the rest of us already have. If you want I am sure there is likely a test procedure in the electrical section of the factory workshop manual. I think you can still download it from www.iluvmyrx7.com if you need to.
