very nice cars. Question about that Targa, that wasn't a factory option, I don't think, do you have any info on how that was done? I've always wanted to do something like that to an RX-7.

 

The targa band on my 85' Rx7 is a stock Mazda targa band. I have read that the brushed aluminum targa bands were part of the IMSA package option for 84' - 85' models and I have also seen adveritsement brochures for stock Rx7 targa bands dating back to 1979. There are two types of targa bands that I have seen, the stock Mazda targa band and the Pacifica "targa7" band. Each of these targa bands are getting rare and hard to find. My Rx7s stock targa band is different because it has a GSL badge on it that the previous owner mounted on the targa band above the Madza targa band emblem. They look pretty simple to install and there is usually at least one set on ebay, like this one, in the link below, which is missing its center targa panel, emblems, and screws.

i've seen the factory targas before... i'd like to get my hands on one actaully.
