its 21mm socket. but i use a 2 dollar adjustable wrench

 

here is a 2nd tip. If your car is flooded. Find a nice big batter to boost your car with. Say a minivan or pickup. That will help increase the cranking speed and you have a better chance of it starting sooner.

 

or use a battery charger on the jump or boost setting

 

i got tired of pulling my fuses so i cut the middle wire on that yellow box and put a switch on it, then mounted the switch on the plastic, when i shut off the car i just flip the switch to kill it then when im starting it turn it back on and it fires right up!

 

The one thing I didn't read in all that good advice was.........



Keep the throttle to the floor. This helps when clearing the chambers and will likely get it started w/o doing anything else.



If your car has hot-start flooding issues, hold the foot to the firewall from the get-go every time. You want to introduce extra air for all that extra fuel.



It used to work for me every time and my compression was probably in the 60s.

I forget which series that works for, but it doesnt work for both series

 

I'm talking about [SIZE=14][COLOR=red]physically holding the throttle plates open, not the S5 switch on the floor.[/COLOR=red][/SIZE=14] People always say that and I always forget to clarify in my post.

Rob, you got those things to work? I had one of those portable ones (about the size of a mini cooler) and whenever I cranked the car over the thing would trip internally thus never giving me extra juice. I returned it the next day.



THe only ones I find that work that are chargers as well are those honking ones the size of a mini fridge that are on a dolly.

They are supposed to be for series 5. But I find it only works for moderately flooded engines. For bad engines it doesn't do squat
