Why Do Some Guy's That Drive Rx8
#6
I think a lot of it is time.
If you were around when the 3rd gen was still a new car, most of the people zipping around in them were the same people banging around in RX-8s now - rich folk.
The RX-7 was just another high end car for lawers to get as a toy.
After they went on to their second owners, you got the crop of guys that we have now on boards like this one.
To some extent, I think the RX-8 will be a bit different in that it isn't really an expensive car the way the 7 was. Still, there are a lot of rich folk getting them as toys and those people aren't enthusiasts and they aren't generally very friendly.
I greet everyone I see with a cool car, but I'm a freak.
What I'm always suprised by are how many turds there are out there in "other" models that will flip you off or yell something cruel at you when you acknowledge them in a positive way.
I'll sometimes nod at some ricer with a big wing on their Sentra or whatever and I will sometimes get a bird flip as a response or even an "FU!".

Because most of them are not car enthusiasts like ourselves.
I still get a laugh when I see some old lady driving a super clean bone stock Fd, that you know she bought brand new and she has no clue what she has.
