The ol lady said I could get an RX8 (in about 2 months) so the shopping begins. Had a few questions first though:

Limited slip, standard or optional equipment? and if optional, is there a tag on the dif to let me know it is a limited slip dif or do I have to jack the car and spin a tire.

Auxillary port actuation: how are the auxillary ports actuated? exhaust back pressure (like the S4's) smog pump (like the S5's), or are they new and improved with some other sort of actuation? (I found out the hard way that exhaust pressure fed my s4 aux ports and its been a headache ever since)

any engine generation changes yet? like the s4 to s5 in 89 with the second gens, or have there been no improvements to the renesis yet? (I read about the 2009, but it only mentioned body styling and aerodynamics)

and please tell me theres a model without a sunroof.

ok thats all for now. thanks

rx8 is easy to shop, they made it simple.

every car has the same 4.44 lsd

the aux ports are electric, theres a little motor

2004-2008 are all the same, basically there have been a couple of detail improvements, but they have all either been recalls, or bulletin updates (things like the starter, and battery)

theres basically 3 models, or packages

base

you can get the xenon lights, but it came with front fog lights and the DSC

and then you can add leather, and sunroof, and the crappy bose radio (its really muddy)

that is really just about it. except color! and they made plenty of cars, so it shouldnt be hard to find the one you want

base model, velocity red (there is no other color for a rotary) now all I need is a name.....

I wish this time would go by faster (I'm on hold because we're fixin to move). I will kind of miss my ol 7 though.

Just make sure you test drive the competition... You'll probably walk away from the 8 as I did. I didn't care for the electric steering, or the lack of power, or the Mazda 6 styling. Hopefully Mazda will bring back a real rotary sports car in the near future.

I would agree... I wanted to love it. But it doesn't have the power level it should, and that electric power steering system.... SUCKS!

Not a big fan of the Mazda 6 styling.

well, looks like I'll have to test drive one first huh? just for giggles what are you guys recommending instead thats comparable?

I was really leaning toward the 8 because of my previous history(s) with the rotary engine, it gets great reviews (but that depends on where you go) and the people at "top gear" LOVE it. figured thats enough for me...

if the 8 does break my heart I'll be looking more towards audi.
