If you bought under the higher hp sticker you got a $500 gift card or some maintanence crap OR they would buy back the car.

IF you bought it before august you got 500 bucks AND free maintenance for the warranty period. If you purchased the car in that time frame you would have also gotten a letter from Mazda with the offer. Ever since the car has been rated at 238. It used to be rated at 247.

It pisses people off, but the real horsepower is around 220.....

Feels good to me though.

I noticed a new Mazda ad in Racer Magazine plugging the new Star Mazdas (they have renesis engines) and they leave out the HP while bragging about the powerful engine.

They have a pic of a RX-8 with an engine hoist over it and a Star Mazda in the foreground. Caption says "What and RX-8 engine does on weekends".

It is obvious that they never state HP just 0-60 times etc...

I did read somewhere else in Racer that the Star Mazdas are putting out 240 HP in race trim. Thats w/ a Motec and open exhaust so you do the math.

Heh. I'm not complaining.

Although if I remember right, and I'm sure someone can correct me if I'm wrong, the Speedsource guys are also running motec's for the Grand Am series, and when we where over there I heard that the engine was doing about 245HP. I never heard if that was crank or wheels though.

I've dynoed twice. once at 180 and another at 184. stage 1 was good originally for 22hp more or less to 205, but the original fuel map wasnt my favorite. New one is much smoother but since my car reflash I have been having some issues and will need to load another map, so we shall see what that gives.
