has anyone heard anything on the K&N Typhoon short RAM:

http://www.mazdatrix.com/8intake.htm

How does this compare to rotary extreme's "cold air" intake found here:

Do you know of any better RAM airs/cold air intakes?

Thanks

I think the rotaryextreme one would be best since it comes with the heat shields to form a box around the intake.

imo rotaryextreme would be the most efficient because the filter is boxed in, and away from the rotary engine's hot engine bay.

Does anyone know how hard it is to install/remove the rotary extreme cold air

kit and install/remove the stock air flow kit? The reason I ask is I plan to swap

the two air intakes every time I bring the vehicle in for scheduled maintanence.

I don't want to risk the dealer voiding my warranty!

How about the Tornado? Any comments on this device. Is it a scam. Will it interfere

with the air flow sensor?

racing beat is making a CAI setup for the rx-8. i would wait and buy that one, as racing beat does aguably the best tuning and makes some of the best products for rotary cars. they also have good prices for great, quality parts.

go to http://www.racingbeat.com for more info.

Hi,

I found out it takes about 30minutes to install the RE cold air intake. Thanks for the new tip.

I havent heard a typhoon yet, but I personally think it's ugly and kinda ridiculous looking. The RE intake sounds very nice when going WOT (gets real loud, real fast too).

I posted some clips in this section a few days back with a RE intake clip (kinda dark, but sound is what ya want). Just look a little farther down the post list.
