what is your job? some sort of engineering i'm guessing.
nice hobby, though. you married, again i'm guessing on this one no, just because of your free time. but hey, i think i might rather be married to a couple of rx-7's anyway...at least when there is problems, you can troubleshoot, understand and then fix them. that and car's dont nag
That is so true about salesmen not knowing jack **** about their rotary line. 1) I asked a salesmen if he could start up the RX-8 for me just so I could hear it. He tells me that they sound like the previous RX-8s
2) I was telling another guy that I had an RX-7, and he asks if it had a rotary too. No joke.
And yes, both of these fine gentlemen were certified Mazda dealers as a certified Mazdaspeed dealership. It's probably just my neighborhood.

yah i know what you mean, the other dealership here is clueless
90% of salesmen know jack **** about the cars. but at the dealership i work at (bmw) theres quite a few car-literate people there. one of the guys has 2 M3s that he races with.
but then there are retards at honda dealerships who dont even know the engine codes to the cars and what displacement the engines have.

I had spearco make the I/C. It cost $710 plus piping. Which I stole from a greddy FMIC kit. I actually had over 5 feet left over!! I prefer my design. I have almost no lag. Plus the I/c is behind the front frame of the car so it will not be damaged by a minor bump.
As far as my profession I am a land surveyor but I have an extansive background in mechanical drafting/design. I actually screwed up that design we had to cut the one neck off and reweld it to clear the oil cooler that was not in when we made our first measurements.
Hobby?? LOL! No this is more of an obsession. I started Autocrossing and its kinda gotten out of control. This whole engine idea started with an open track day. I got passed by a Supercharged C-5. It pissed me off. At the time I had 225 RWHP. So my goal was to lighten the car more but maintain a stock appearance and try for at least 350 very reliable RWHP. We are close. we have 290 right now but we have wastegate issues. Once they are solved it off to the dyno again for a 4 hour tuning session with Pettit Racing. Then its spankin' time at the next open track day.
I am married to a very patient and cool wife that tries really hard to understand this. I will not mislead you into thinking I did all the work myself a LOT of it was done by a mechanic that builds race cars. He ironically has an obsession for rotories like me. He is in the process of throwing together a widebody FB with a series 5 j-spec engine in it.
Unfortunatly I do not have a lot of free time. I own my own business and it takes a lot of time. The plus side is that I an very lucky to be able to afford to have someone do the work for me. I can only take credit for comeing up with the idea and making key decisions on what kind of mods I wanted to make. I di a bunch of work when time permited but this mechanic did most of it.
Thanks for the compliment though. I am very proud of this car. It is such a blast to drive. When ever I am in any other car I find myself wishing I was in her.
