The only thing about it though, is 40hp is a lot of power to gain from new engine compression. I think a more realistic number is 10 or 15hp.
well to be fair they did a few things. the exhaust ports are larger than before. the intakes can open sooner, and they are bigger too. they also raised the redline, in addidtion to raising the compression

Thats true, and that may play a larger role. However it is all relative to one another, that being the newer larger intakes vs compression loss over older smaller intakes vs compression loss. Think about it, to get the most hp out of an engine you have to figure out how to get the most air in, create the best spark to combust it, and have it leave the engine the most effiecantly. And unless there is some different materials being used in this engine that effect compression that dramatically after X amount of miles, the odds of gaining 40hp are pretty slim.

Unless some real revelation occured since 10:00 Saturday morning at the RX-8 forum the ECU thing was speculation based on an excerpt from a TII shop manual.

Educated does not mean guessing based on a previous models settings. So your little blurb above falls into category 2 of my desciption of RX-8 forums members. You dont know **** but your good at bullshitting and convincing others you know your ****.

I am not bashing the RX-8 or Mazda. I am plainly disapointed.

I guess we will have to wait a few months until these cars break in and suddenly develope over 35 more RWHP.

Listen here you sack of ****. Don't go telling me what I know and don't know. I work for Mazda, and the last thing I need is some punk assed little kid telling me I don't know what the **** I'm talking about. I've owned over 15 rotary cars in my life and have YET until now, had someone tell me I don't know what I'm talking about. Why don't you pull that piston out of your *** and get ******* real. You'll see a response from Mazda personally on this board, on this forum within the next two weeks. Until then, why don't you go start working on you 350 chevy swap for your RX-7 since you couldnt tell a rotary from a hole in your head.

You just made such an *** out of yourself. You have no idea who I am so here you go I'll help you out.

37 years old.

I have over 25K invested in my TII - I suggest you do a search on my user name and read some threads and see some pics of my car. or at the cery least read my sig

I have spent countless hours and hundreds of dollars dynoing my TII and dynoing my brothers GXL we race in Autocrosses a lot and plan on moving on to ITS soon. I know exactly what tuning rich does to the car I cannot imagine that a n/a looses close to 50 horsepower from running rich.

I planned on being the first on my block to own a RX-8. I decided to wait for the Mazdaspeed edition long before this mess unfolded.

Instead I paid CASH for a CooperS Works addition. That was also done long before this mess. I planned on driving it for 2 years then selling it to buy the RX-8.

I plan on paying cash for a Mazdaspeed RX-8 if and when Mazda tells us the big secret behind the 210HP RX-8 and IF they can make the Mazdaspeed RX-8 interesting.

Working for Mazda does not mean **** to me. Your salesmen dont know **** your parts dept. dont know ****. For christs sake your salesman barely know what they are selling as far as the RX-8 goes. Mazda dealerships turned their back on the RX-7's years ago THANK GOD for Mazdaspeed of which I am an approved member. At least those guys know something about the RX-7's.

I bought my 1st RX-7 in 1985 so I have owned rotaries on and off for 18 years and gues what???? I learn something new everyday about them.

You need to chill.

Sorry! That was a blanket statement. It was not fair. I am very frustrated w/ my local Mazda dealership. I would attempt to buy basic parts for my engine. When I tell them 93 RX-7 it was usually followed by Turbo or Non-turbo?? WTF!
