i think that was a miata concept, looks like it says mx-5 on the back

Not real.

First it says it will be out in 2004 and then this:

The incoming car will have a scaled-down version of the 2-litre four-cylinder engine of the Mazda 6, reduced in capacity to 1.8 litre .

Rx8 will all was have a rotary in it or they might as well call it a Mx8.

If i remember correctly, there were miata test mules running around in modified RX-8 bodywork, and thats what spawned this "prototype" rx-8 cabrio

I saw something similar to this at Mazda's R&D in CA, but it only had one seat. Kinda like a cross between the RX-8 and a go-cart.
