It broke because of a shitty map upgrade that was supplied to him by Benny at Greddy USA. Ray of PFS had given Ryan a pretty good map that had been working fine for close to six months. The Greddy issued a flash update or something of that sort which was to help the A/F simulator? Ryan feel free to clarifly since most of this i am going off memory. Anywho.. So Ryan installed this new update to the E-manage software and on the first test drive we broke the seal in the front rotor. We were not under boost at the time the engine popped. We were actually crusing only at part throttle. Greddy has declined any responsibility for this.

[quote name='Black8' date='Jul 20 2005, 08:39 AM']So you can take engine out from above...cool.....

Yeah, so did you have to do anything super tricky to get that motor out from above? As a tech at a Mazda dealership, I've had to replace two RX-8 engines (jiffy lube put synthetic in one, and then it mysteriously blew up and they somehow got them to pay for it, and T2 plug threads were stripped out from the factory on the other one) and I'm going to be doing another one next week (guy drove through a puddle/waterfall/lake or something) and I just followed the FSM, which says to take the motor, crossmember and trans out as one whole assembly. What did you do to take it out from the top?

Unbolt the tranny from engine, take off the UIM, and do all the bs stuff like coolant hoses then support the engine from up top and undo the motor mounts and pick it out from the top. Dont forget to take the hood off
