Well...just got word from the dealer. My car has been there for 3 days. I brought it by on a Saturday. I rode around with a tech so he can hear the mad whining coming from the diff. He agreed, something is fucked up. So I drop the car off on Monday. In between the then and today they have gone over the car, determined it is the rear end and if they can getaway with just a new ring and pinion or a whole diff. Mazda techline says to go ahead and order a complete diff. I am relieved. I'm confident my baby will be well again. I got to bring my car home, and I will return the car to the dealer as soon as the diff arrives. So hopefuly Tuesday or Wednesday they will start working on it. Poor thing only has 2700 miles on it. Oh well....

I can't wait until it's all fixed....

Crikey! That is odd having a diff going **** under 3000 miles on it.

Hopefully she'll get better and be zoom zooming again.

I don't know...it had been whining since day one, but it was real faint at first and got louder as time went on. At first I thought it was the tires, but then it got real loud and I could feel the vibrations through the shifter. Probably a bad ring and pinion from the get go, and it just wore out the other stuff......this is the first Torsen diff I ever had, so I'm not too familiar with them....I just drove it around to run some errands and man...it's gotten real bad and now there are some clunks coming from the diff as I load it and unload it....I can't wait till all is well again.

So far, the diff is the only bad thing about the RX-8, right? Wasn't Judge Ito's noisy as well? I'd still get one over any other new car right now.
