who the hell cares if it has 9 less horsepower... mazda still stands by its 0-60 claim and other performance numbers... so i'd take it even if it had 2 horsepower as long as it did 0-60 in 5.9 or whatever, and the 1/4 in 14 something... big fricken deal...

I am considering selling it back to the dealer. I really like the car, but $500 and free service for the warranty period is worth about, what $900-$1000? That breaks down to $66 per HP. Not too bad, but I want the power and I don't want to void my warranty doing it. Some of the post's that I've read lately about Mazda voiding warranties due to a few aftermarket parts is appauling. Anyone have any issues with Mazda's warranty and aftermarket parts? For the time being I want to flash the ECU get and intake and exhaust, if my warranty is hosed because of those simple mods they can have it back.

As long as you use Mazda Speed parts and have them installed at a dealer your warranty is still good.. most people don't realize this so I thought I'd let you know...

I thougth u guys are true Rotary fans? Anyway Honda claim that the s2000 have 240 hp, but when people dyno it it came up to 197 and yet noone is bashing honda, must be people hate or just want to be in the click for the for fun of it? Also I bet not too many people went out and dyno all the s2000 to see the power drop.Bottom line buy the car for what it is, As I recall none Rotary came from the Factory with alot of power to compete with it's competitiors, for example the 93-95 Rx7 the Supra and the z had more power and even the heavy bitch 3000vr or whatever, and mazda did not beef up any power. Simple put u either buy it for what it is or not buy something else. In my opinion I think alot of u young guys think Rotary has alot of power from factory? Mazda sell cars as mass which means they need cut the power from the engine to make the engine last longer.Anyway if anyone wants to sell me they rx8 dirt cheap let me know I can use one badly. Khris

One Mazdaspeed exhaust = ECU flash, exhuast and intake. What a ripoff!

I don't see what the problem is if the 0-60 and quarter mile times are the same as advertised. I'd be happy to own one.

Because its not 9 HP its more like 35 HP and no one has been able to replicate the 0-60 or the 1/4 mile times yet. So that is a big deal.

Mazda got everyone excited with a 250HP RX-8 and delivered a 220HP RX-8. Mazda continually compared it to the FD and it does not come close as far as performance. The Infinity G-35 is its direct competitor and it will mop up the RX-8.

Khris - I am a rotary fan you will find none bigger. I am very diapointed in this car. Would I own one? If it had 247 HP yes. Now I will wait for the aftermarket to come up with some tricks and buy a used one a few years from now. I would like to know where you got your info on the S2000. I never heard of them coming up short until your post. The 93-95 RX-7 is a terrible example BTW because it marked the end of the rotary engine being sold in the US. poor sales coupled with warranty claims up the *** killed it off. The RX-8 was supposed to be a no nonsensse attempt at the rotary. If they would have been honest with the HP from the start they would not have turned off so many people to the car.

Bottom line: I will purchase one in the next few years and mod the hell out of it. Possibly an engine swap. Hmmm......20B???
