Well I just got back from the Mazda Dealership again. I finally got to see my first Rx-8 up close. It was very disapointing

Well the dealer took me to go look at the car. It had the sports package and that was it. First off the car I think it smaller then my FD. To me it doesnt look like you can add anything in the engine bay as far as turbos go. It would have to be very small. The seats arent as nice as my FD's. The interior kinda reminds me of the 350z. The thing that made me almost cry was when he started it up was that I had to ask if it was on!!!

Things I did like. The gauges were awesome! It had alot of trunk space. And I like the way it looks.

I am very picky with cars....VERY picky. And 31k is way too much for what you get. I think Mazda lied to us abou manythings. The Sticker said it only got 18mpg. I sure do remember reading it got 20% better gas mileage. For those that dont know math it would put the mileage at around 21! Maybe I am just mad because the dont let people test drive them....

I can't wait to get next to one on the road. It is gonna be a fun race. ( I just hope it aint Rikki's )

Anybody else feel the same way or differently? Owners happy with theirs?

I always said it was going to miss the mark at $31000.

Give the car 50 more HP and keep the price where it is now, and MAYBE

people will buy it.

Mazda did have to make the car a bit more mainstream to hope to sell

some, hence the back seats and the 4 doors.

I do however think the interior is nice, did the one you look

at have the black and red seats?

No It only had the sport package. No leather seats. However the car I saw at the car show had those and it looked very nice. I do not like the cloth seats at all on the Rx-8. If they were suade the car would be so much nicer. Or even the MS protege seats! In order to get the red and black leather you HAVE to get the Touring package which bumps the price to at least 31k. You have to start from their and work your way up with the other options

a couple of my friends have driven it and they say its like a gsl-se, ie fun to beat on. in the grander sceme of things the fd doesnt really fit into anything mazda has built before, they are good at making fun beaters. the fd is a little different

my local dealer had 2, they both were over $31,000 with the touring package.

Guess they are sticking to the ZOOM-ZOOM theory with a fun to beat on

car. As long as it doesnt break.

Power, it defenately lacks. As far as the interior, I think it looks awesome, rotors are everywhere even on the seats.

I think that it is a great semi-practical, fun to drive, sporty car. The way I look at it is that this is the welcome mat for the new rx-7. Mazda is testing the water again in america with this rotary powered car to see if americans like it. If they do then mazda will roll out the RX-7, with either turbos or wider rotors. 14C anyone? or hell 15C.
