I plan on converting to an RX-8 Renesis complete with the FI from my 13b. I'll worry about motor mounts and such after I get the proper motor.

Right now my concern is in buying from a salvage yard, are there exterior clues to look for so that I know that I am getting a six-port instead of a four-port?

Beyond the exterior, if they are the same, how can I spot the difference?

Thanks.

No, there is a 4-port, and a 6-port. I believe the 4-port comes with the auto tranny, right?

If the engine is out you can spot the 6 port actuators......also if it has a flexplate attached to it is a 4 port....6 ports were all the 6-speeds, and the 4 ports are automatics....

Interesting, so what other differences are there between the engines?

HP rating and the intakes if I'm not mistaken.

www.yawpower.com installed a 4 port renesis in a rock crawler. Its under the projects section.

Thanks for the good info, Noel. Now, would you please be kind enough to tell me what is meant by an actuator and a flexplate?

just look at the lower intake manifold, the four port has 4 runners and 4 injectors, the 6-port has six runners and six injectors
