I plan on converting to an RX-8 Renesis complete with the FI from my 13b. I'll worry about motor mounts and such after I get the proper motor.
Right now my concern is in buying from a salvage yard, are there exterior clues to look for so that I know that I am getting a six-port instead of a four-port? Beyond the exterior, if they are the same, how can I spot the difference? Thanks. |

If the engine is out you can spot the 6 port actuators......also if it has a flexplate attached to it is a 4 port....6 ports were all the 6-speeds, and the 4 ports are automatics....

just look at the lower intake manifold, the four port has 4 runners and 4 injectors, the 6-port has six runners and six injectors

Mark [snapback]746840[/snapback] [/quote] main differences between the engines are the number of ports and injectors (4 vs 6), the port opening and closing timings for both intake and exhaust, the variable lenght intake manifolds are tuned for different rpms, the redlines are different and the power and torque outputs. Could be more, I dunno |
