Red face

127K, Runs, but will need a rebuild soon (blows black smoke above about 3500 rpm). I'll clean it up a bit and get more/better pics tomorrow. I really don't know the history of the car at all, but it's NOT A TurboII, so ignore the sticker. Drive it away for 1,000 bucks. Located in Santa Cruz, Ca.

EDIT: I know I have a low post count here, but I have plenty of transactions at the "other" RX-7 Club, and I'm a moderator at MOCC (Mazda Owners Club Of California) with a ton of friends/vouchers there too. My eBay username is p5natey if you wanna check that out. Feel free to ask any questions you like, and I'll try to answer them as well as possible, but I literally got this car today, so I haven't even gotten a chance to check it out yet.

Thanks!

Is there anything else wrong with the car?

The guy I got it from said it bogged out on the freeway, but that kinda goes hand-in-hand with the 3500rpm thing.

The interior's messy, but not beat up. Once I vacuum it out, I'll get some pics.

The passenger's seat is just sitting in place with no bolts....I think someone had a system in the thing at some point.

The paint is typical late 80's Mazda, meaning it's pretty bad. Spider cracks etc.

You can see in the pic that the ECU has been messed with, and is hanging.

The driver's side door doesn't work from the outside.

Good stuff:

I see NO oil or fluid leaks anywhere. The engine bay and under the car are both dry.

There are no dents on the car, other than a couple of minor parking lot dings, and all the trim is intact.

The tires are almost new

I'll update when I've cleaned it up a bit and taken it for a spin.

Hmmm, I guess I waited too long to edit my last post.

Anyway, I just wanted to add that the wipers (F&R), windows, and sunroof all work. The sunroof's a bit sticky, but it opens and closes.

It also fired right up after sitting all night in the cold.

I also noticed that the two front tires have some positive(?) camber wear, meaning that the outsides of the tires are getting worn. The two rears are almost like new, though.

Alrighty. I cleaned it up, bolted the seat back in, and took it for a spin. I also have more pics.

The Good:

- The driver's seat under the cover is clean. I just couldn't get my hand under there to take to cover off.

- The interior is surprisingly clean. NO rips or bad stains. Yes, there are a few minor stains, but nothing bad at all.

- It starts right up every time and sounds great. I'm no mechanic, but maybe the smoke and hesitation is something not-so-major?

- Tags are good until Mar '08

The Not-So-Good:

- The shifter feels "rubbery"

- The clutch engages pretty close to the floor

- No blinkers or hazards....I have a feeling that this has something to do with the wiring hanging down below the dash. The headlights, taillights and brake lights work, though.
