1985 Mazda RX-7 GSL-SE

90,860 original miles. White with burgundy leather interior. This car has power steering and air conditioning. No modifications. I am the second owner and have tried to address all of the questions about a used car that I would ask if in your position. Selling price is $3,500. Please see below.

History

This RX-7 was originally purchased by a graduating engineer in 1985. It remained in his possession until 2003 when I bought it from him with 73,587 miles. The car has spent all of its time in Roanoke, Virginia (the southwestern part of the state). I have a collection of documentation including the original receipt of purchase from December 1985.

Maintenance

Upon my purchasing the car I had some preventative maintenance done. This included new spark plugs, a flush of the radiator, a new thermostat and a new fuel filter. New fluids included clutch, brake, rear differential and transmission. Oil changes were performed at least every 3,000 miles and only Mazda oil filters were used. At roughly 85,000 miles a new clutch was installed along with a new clutch slave cylinder. The tires are fairly new, as they were replaced around the same 85,000 mile mark.

Condition

The car is in great condition for the year. The original paint still shines brightly and the car runs very well.

Full Disclosure

-The car was involved in one slow speed misadventure where I bumped the back of a pick up truck. The front bumper cover was cut and the front light valance was bent by the hitch on the truck. I had both the bumper cover and light valance replaced with original Mazda parts. The accident was VERY minor, absolutely no damage was done to the truck and I kept the original bumper cover to help prove this.

-The windshield wiper motor and linkage are not installed. All parts are present minus two intact plastic washers that will need to be purchased from Mazda. This all came about as a result of my trying to fix the slow-operating wiper linkage. While I freed the linkage, I managed to break two of the plastic washers that hold it together.

-The power antenna does not extend or retract via the power antenna motor. It can be manually pulled up and pushed down.

-Although they are still very comfortable, the leather seats are worn.

-There are two small spots of rust. The first spot is located along the lip of the passenger-side rear fender well and the second is located around the passenger-side drain tube of the rear hatch. These spots have been present since I purchased the car and have not become any larger than they were four years ago. I believe them to be surface rust only.

-The A/C needs to be recharged. The conditioned air is cooler than ambient but a charge would definitely help.

-The rear hatch struts no longer hold hatch open.

-I have a black bra for this car that has never been used and is still in the original box.

Reason for Selling

I hardly ever drive the car. I start it up and run it around the block once every two weeks or so but, unfortunately, never have the time to drive it around town.

Credibility

I take excellent care of all of my vehicles and have even participated in a few car shows over the years. This is my fourth Mazda RX-7 and my second first generation car. I believe in full disclosure and would much prefer you be pleasantly surprised at the condition of the car than to be disappointed. Taking this into consideration, I have described the car as objectively as possible.

Disclaimer

I have described the car to the best of my abilities. There is no warranty written, expressed or implied. The car is sold as-is. Your bid is a contract to buy the car so make sure to ask questions before you commit. If local, you are welcome to inspect the car.

I just put the car up for sale on eBay where there are a few pictures displayed. I hope I am not breaking any forum guidlines by linking to the add: 1985 Mazda RX-7 GSL-SE If I am, please let me know.
