here is a copy of the description
1974 mazda rx-4 rotary wagon with 54,631 original miles. this was purchased at an estate sale after the original owner passed away. the miles are acurate and i have many documents to prove so. ( past vehicle registrations, repair recipts, ect.) the old man worked for the air force on base so he drove very little from what i can make out. i think i have receipts from every tank of gas even, lol. also i have the original window sticker from when the car was sold ( original price was $4955), sales recipt, the original owners manual with warranty book still in the plastic case, many old mazda sales brochures, and a bunch of early 70's mazda newpaper adverstiments and articles about the wankel engine. the one thing i dont have is the title to the vechile, unfortunatly the estate was never able to locate it. My plan was to wait til 2009 and get an antique title, in KS after 35 years all you need is a bill of sale to get a title. the car spent most of its life in baltimore, maryland, it was sold at Al Packer Mazda.( the al packer badge is still on the back of the car) i have vehicle registration cards from MD from 75-97 and then it went to missouri where i found it. it is my opinion that the old man cared for this car very much to keep all these documents and the car in such fine shape. he was an original lover of the rotary engine.
first off the engine. first year of the 13b. when i first got it would only run by dumping gas down the carb. i took the original carb off and replaced it with a mikuni 44phh and racing beat intake. i rebuilt and properly jetted the mikuni and she fired up and ran good. it was really just a test to see if the motor was still good. the mikuni IS NOT INCLUDED!! if the purchaser of the car would like it i will include it for an additinal $500. all the original carb and emission stuff i still have and will be included. to keep it in classic form it should be retured to 100% original in my opinion. all that is missing is a couple pieces of door trim, i have some pieces but not all. everything under the hood is 100% original and complete. i dont have the original set of keys either, just cut copys.
the interior is very nice with the only major flaws being some cracks in the dash pad and the headliner has come unglued from the very rear. the black carpet is very clean and had protecting mats over it its entire life. there is a little discoloration in the very back carpet. the ashtray and cigerette have never been used. the original mazda factory 8 track player i was told worked but i have never had a 8 track to try it, lol. all the door panels are good and window all roll up and down. i have not found a single rip or tear in any of the seats, they are very nice and very comfortable.
the body is in good shape as far as rust goes except for the vinyl top. it will need redone and some rust repaired. the underside looks very clean and pretty much rust free. it is very solid and an excelent restoration canidate in my opinion. it is almost a 35 year old car so it is not perfect. all 4 original rims with beauty rings and rotor center caps are still there. except for the side trim pieces and original keys it is 100% complete and original. very rare to find any car this old this complete and with documents. this will be a real collector someday, i wish i had the time, space, and $$ that this beauty deserves but i dont.
buyer will need to tralier or dolly it home as it has no carburater on it currently. car is to be picked up before the end of september in Lawrence, Kansas ( 30 min west of kansas city) and paid for in cash. $100 due through paypal within 24hrs of auctions end. also i have this car for sale locally so i reserve the right to end the auction at any time. sold as is.
