Hey folks, I posted this over at the rx7club.com forums, somebody there recommended that I post it here as well to maximize exposure.

Wife says in order to buy a bike, the sports car's gotta go.

Car runs GREAT! It's got 102k miles, of which I put 20k (I bought the car with around 82k miles) in the 3 or so years I've owned it. Prior owner was also a rotary enthusiast and took very good car of the car as well. 10-8-10 psi boost from the twin sequential turbos. Amazing throttle response. Between 16-18Hg of vacuum at idle.

In terms of maintenance, the car has had it's coolant changed every year since I've had it. I've changed the oil/filter every 2k with Castrol GTX (10W30 or 10W40). I did the spark plugs wires (Taylor-Vertex Spiro-Pro) in 2001. Both the trans and diff have Red Line synthetic in them. Porterfield brake pads (hard to keep the wheels clean but have amazing bite) and ATE Super Blue in the brake lines. Replaced the O2 sensor in 2002. I put in a bottle of the Red Line FI cleaner through the car every year. Fuel filter changed at 97,000 miles. KDR did a complete check of the car in 2001.

In terms of reliability mods, the car has a stainless steel DP, Aluminum AST, boost gauge, water temp gauge, A/F meter gauge (all gauges are AutoMeter), HKS turbo timer, Racing Beat intake duct, K&N air filter, and manual fan mod. Got Speedbleeders on all 4 brakes (as well as one for the clutch which I didn't install). I also replaced the exhaust for a near new stock one in 2001.

The car also has a Cusco front strut tower brace (I also have the matching rear one, which I didn't install because it necessitates the rear strut covers to be removed), Efini badges, and a Sony CDX-MP30 CD/MP3 head unit w/ remote and 10 CD changer.

Have some spare parts, 2 car covers, and the official Mazda workshop manual.

Located just outside of Boston. Asking $12,995 OBO no lowball offers please. E-mail me at f2racer@covad.net

Hey I might sound a lil bit dumb, but with the price that ur asking and the milage that high for an RX-7, i doubt that any1 will offer u? well mayb some1 really krazy and doesnt know anything about the engine, when a rotory goes up about 100k+ milage, it will soon break down and u will have to rebuild everything, which will cost u a shiet load of $$, but also an compliment on the car is that its in great shape except for the milage ^^ Sorry to be nosey and shiet... but yeah just giving my own opinion

X-AzE, thanks for the feedback, but I must respectfully disagree with you. I can say from experience that mileage means very little in terms of longevity for FDs. I've had 2 FDs over the last 6 years and my current FD is far and away a better car than my first. In spite of the fact that my first had only 56k or so miles when I purchased it back '98.

With that car, the problems started about 2k miles after I bought the car. All sorts of turbo related problems, so I spent about $1k to have the vacuum hoses replaced. At around 60k miles the secondary turbo stopped boosting, another $3k. Within another 2k or so I had more boost problems, which took another $250 to diagnose (one of the big coupler hoses had a small tear which really couldn't be seen since it was buried). In the 3 years I had that car, I think I had it on the road for about half that time.

My current FD was owned by a fellow rotary enthusiast who took very good car of the car prior to me buying it (3 years ago at 82k miles). It had a complete checkup at KDR prior to me buying it and it passed with flying colors. It's given me 3 years of near troublefree ownership. The only reason it's ever been taken off the road is because I choose not to drive it over the winter.

That added to the fact that FDs are pretty rare up here in Boston (attrition due to winters and dealers mostly to blame) and IMHO my price is fair. If it doesn't sell in a month or so, I'll consider lowering the asking price, but I have no intentions of giving my car away.

Thanks!

Your asking price is fair, it's high school kids thinking that every car they want should be cheaper that is the problem.

Keep the price and hold onto it, you'll find the right buyer.

If the price could ever drop a bit, shoot me an email/pm.

No, I'm not some high school kid expecting to get something for nothing.

In fact I've been checking religiously for FD's and seen many sell at some awesome prices (Those that say a rebuilt 93 FD can't go for $11-12k haven't looked hard enough).

I still think it's a great car and you've treated it very well, regardless.

Good luck either way.

hey that is an was a great price. please dont judge our site based on the idiots like x-aze who dont know what they are talking about. i cant remember ever seeing an fd go for under $12000 unless it needs a rebuild or some other serious work. i dont know where he gets his cars, but you could try to sell it to the guy who owns lamotorcars in dallas. www.lamotorcars.com
