PLEASE DONT ARGUE LS1 VS. ROTARY VS. 2JZ VS. ROCKET POWER

Available on eBay is this nice 1987 Mazda RX7 FC. The car has been outfitted with a 2001 fuel injected LS1 aluminum (5.7 litre) V-8 engine and a six-speed manual transmission from a 2001 Camaro SS. There are just over 29,000 miles on the running gear. Car is located in Olympia, WA

Features include:

• 2001 LS1 and T56 6-speed transmission

• Manual Rack-and-pinion steering

• 4 wheel disc brakes

• Limited-slip differential w/hardened axles

• Cable X speedometer correction

• 17” ADR wheels

• Black and grey after-market racing seats

• Aftermarket aluminum radiator (27x16x3) with dual 10” electric fans

• 160 degree thermostat

• Walbro 255 LPH fuel pump

• Modified driveshaft

• Re-programmed ECU with “Power Tune” from Speartech

• Aeromotive Hi-flow fuel pressure regulator

• Polished MAF and throttle body

• Dual 2.5” exhaust with X-Pipe, competition turbo mufflers

• KYB shocks with 1” lowered Eibach springs

The installation is very clean. The car runs exceptionally well and is nicely tuned. The handling is very good as the aluminum V-8 weighs about the same as the cast iron rotary engine that the suspension was designed for. It is very fun to drive, and the exhaust tone makes it obvious that it’s no longer packing a rotary (not that there’s anything wrong with that).

The car is dependable and has no lingering issues. It runs cool, even on the hottest days. It has been well taken care of and has not been abused.

The car was dyno’d at 289 hp at the rear wheels, equating to a very conservative estimate of 350 hp at the crank.

The body is very straight, but still has the original paint. There is no evidence of rust, paint bubbling, or repairs. This car will be ready for fresh paint with minimal prep work.

The interior is in decent shape with aftermarket seats. It is what you would expect for a car of this period.

This car is a great little powerhouse as it sits, and could very easily be a showpiece as all of the hard work is done. With excellent mechanicals and a sound body, this can very easily be taken to a high level.

This car is being sold at a reserve that is less than it would cost to build.

CLEAR TITTLE
