Does it click/grind going into 5th?

If so you will most likely just need a syncro.

it wont go into fifth or reverse....i took out the slider and did a little grinding and got reverse back but no luck on fifth...i finally gave in and took it to a tranny guy and he said the whole fifth gear assembly should be replaced and when i looked at the parts they are shot for some reason....not sure what the guy before me did to 5th...but its like he took it to 10k and slammed it

wow gl with that one. For the most part I have found it cheaper to replace a tranny than trying to fix it.

You can buy low mileage JDM trannies from $350-600. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

personally I would fix what I have, figure for $600-$800 you can have a rebuilt unit with a warranty.

I was quoted $1,200 to have mine rebuilt. Where can I get mine rebuilt for that with a warranty?

I dont know how much of your $1200 were the "hard parts", if its like $300-$400 in parts we are in the same neighboorhood.

I just had mine rebuilt, no hard parts, and it was less then $800.

for how important it is I dont think $1200 is alot of money for a rebuilt unit.

If you find one for $300-$350, then another $125 or so to ship it, put it in the car and it lasts a month before

it has the same problem you will be that much further behind.

If you are paying someone to swap the transmissions they will charge you everytime to remove and install used units.

If they are doing the job and its warranty they do the grunt work.
