I want to get a basic water injection kit. Im not interested in aquamist kits. I have seen the spearco kit, but Im curious if there are any others out there. Its kind of a pain to go buy all the parts myself, so if someone offers a kit I'd like to get it.

My preference is to be able to use my windshield washer container as I dont have much room in my bay.

any ideas?

Also, if I do end up with making my own, where do I get a water pump (other than on the net, any stores carry them?).

Thanks!

Why don't you like aquamist kits?

I'm sure you've seen this:

http://www.turbomirage.com/water.html

I'm doing a system like this using the windsheild washer container. Keep in mind the windshield washer container doesn't exactly hold a lot of fluid, about 9 cups by my measurements. I figure with a 1.9 gph nozzle (which is significantly smaller than the 6-9 gph nozzles they recommend) I can only run at WOT for about 10 minutes before I am out of water. I went with a smaller nozzle since I am only using it for increased detonation resistance on the road course. I figure I will need to refill it once per 20 minute session. If you are using it for drag racing and/or upping your boost, you'll probably want to run a larger spray nozzle.

I wired up the pump and solenoid in my battery casing area, created the room for it by switching to a smaller Hawker 680 battery.

One of the local guys who installed an aquamist system for drag/street racing decided the washer container was not enough, and installed a 3 gallon cell behind the rear strut bar.

I just got everything ordered for that system you just outlined. I went to a 9 QT container in my spare tire area.

what boost are you setting yours to come on at? Also anything I should be aware of? Thanks

That turbomirage.com setup is basically what I am running. I have it come on at about 5 psi. For a water tank I am using the one that comes with the Spearco water injection setup, the Spearco setup really sucks but the tank was quite nice. Dont remember what size sprayer I used, it was the medium one supplied in teh spearco kit.

I have had it working for about 6 months now and just pulled the plugs a couple weeks ago, it is amazing how clean they are! They looked a bit worn but there was no carbon at all on them.

Mine is set to come on at 7 psi, although for road tracks it really doesn't matter, since I am almost always at vacuum or at 10 psi. I couldn't find a "Hobbes" pressure switch in my area, but I did find several options through Jegs and Summit. They have fuel pressure switches which are usually used for nitrous systems (in fact the brand name on the package is NOS), they come in three flavors, one adjustable from 4-7 psi, one from 14-24 psi, and one from 25-50 psi. Part number for the 4-7 psi one is NOS-15660. Beyond that I don't know much, I've got mine nearly installed, just waiting on a part (which should show up today).

One thing I should note - if you are using the TurboMirage setup, if you look at the electrical diagram (http://www.turbomirage.com/waterpix/waterinjection.gif), if any part of the line coming off of connector #85 hits ground while ignition is on, it will start the spray regardless of the pressure switch state. Obviously this could cause major problems if your car is idling or off and something gets jiggled and hits ground. So make sure you cover those connections with electrical tape real well.

I've got a track event on the 12th, I'll post a follow-up after the event.

Dude fork over the $450-500 and buy the aquamist kit, it's what I'm using and there is nothing complicated about it and it is ******* awsome.. And your not going to be able to make or find anything else that will atomize the water nearly as well as the aquamist kits jet and pump. Ex temps go down, tork goes up and I'm boosting 25psi on a T70 with no knock.

For mostly stock car, a $500 kit won't do any more for me than the <$200 DIY kit would...

Obviously on a highly tuned single turbo car which probably has many $1000's of mods done, I would be inclined to buy a high-end kit as well...
