Hey guys!! Just wondering..which company sell porting templates for the rew engines and what do you think about their particular ports that they have(good, bad, could be better etc.) I'm interested in a nice streetport for my FD. Thanks Gang https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683827.gif

Judge Ito 02-12-2004 05:24 AM

I'm currently working on a nice streetport template. I have the master template done. Other members from this forum have shown intrest and I'll be getting them made. Price is 45.00 bucks and the template will cover 86-91 turbo II engines 92 on up FD engines and cosmo engines.

Luv your work Ito!

Excellent idea you have there with the templates. Are you going to do a template for the huge street port you have pics of in the other thread? If you do i will certainly grab one https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

cheers

You got ahead of me. Yes, Ill have a well designed large streetport template done after this one that I'm currently working on. With the large streetport template I'll have to sell it with some do's for reliability. A sort of instructional write up to go along with the template.

Sweet, when will they be ready. have you actuallydriven one of your streetport motors yet? I asking because I don't want to do it and it doesn't do anything or too much for my car.

Thanks Ito

Indian I've been porting and building engines for quite a while. This port on this template has produced 460 rwhp @ 15lbs of boost with regular pump gas. Very nice template I'm putting together.

Indian 02-12-2004 07:08 PM

well I'm just asking, don't get offended. It's my first time hearing of you and I wanted to know what to expect from your templates, it's not like I can port the thing and change it back to stock if I don't like it.

anyway, when do you think you will have it ready for consumers to buy, it sounds like it should work good with my gt40r turbo setup.

Thanks ITO.

RONIN FC 02-12-2004 08:44 PM

Indian, Put it this way. If Ito charged tripple what he wants for the templates, they would still be well worth the money.

If you have basic knowledge of ports, and then see his, you will know.

I dont know Ito personally, and have nothing to gain from his templates. But he has helped me and many others to achieve what seemed to be an oxymoron, Power And Reliability

wadejaysin2001 02-12-2004 08:58 PM

Ito,

How about a bridge port template for 6 ports??

I'd buy one for sure!

Hey Indian, I'm not offended at all. templates will be done in no more then a months time. I'll push the machine shop to have them finished sooner.

I had to put to the side the 6 port bridgeport engine I'm currently porting to get this template done. I could honestly tell you I have some great ideas for a 6 port bridgeport template. I'll get on that template sooner then later.

Luis that white FC's bridgeported 6 port engine was built last year and I could tell you a year later it still sounds so fresh and so clean... brap,brap,brap,--------brap,brap,brap-----brap,brap------ https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

I'm not sure of the price, but they will be sold through no pistons and Atkins Rotary.

one more..

cach22 02-13-2004 07:05 AM

Looking very nice Ito!

how do you go lining the template up so it is lined up with the port. Is there like a common hole in the template that say lines up with the thru bolt hole/s on the iron?

cheers

Lance

Judge Ito 02-13-2004 07:08 AM

Lance, it lines up using the two dowel pins. It's going to be one template sporting the primary and secondary ports 2 in 1

Ito,

In that pic above, it looks to me like the distance from the edge of the o ring groove to the intake opening is around 10 mm. Is that right? Isn't there a risk of the soft corner seal falling in there? What about a risk of the bottom half of a stock 3 piece seal falling in there?

Or are those problems avoided by running solid corners and running the seals with the triangle piece facing this port opening?

Thanks,

Brian

Judge Ito 02-13-2004 03:40 PM

That measurement your talking about is exactly 11 mm. Ill post a picture of the apex seal and corner seal plug traveling through the port opening.

Judge Ito 02-13-2004 03:47 PM

Brian, here this picture will show that the inner peace of the 2mm 3 piece apex seal will be supported by the side housing. The corner seal plug could be removed from the corner seal or use solid corner seals. I prefer solid corners seals since they are stronger and could take some detonation better then the none solid ones. Either way this is the largest streetport available without going into a wild streetport and not exposing the sideseal to the opening of the port itself. This port will be reliable and creat some nice power.

WOW, what size monitor do you have? That port is almost 6 inches wide on my monitor! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

Dan H 02-14-2004 12:50 AM

Wow, can't wait for the templates!

I came close to buying the RB one but the street port template is just way too conservative. I need something bigger! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

toxic_d 02-14-2004 10:56 AM

Ito I am building up an 85 se with 12A end plates... will theses work here?

Toxic_d

Wargasm 02-14-2004 10:58 AM

Ito,

Nifty... I did my own home-made first-ever street port and my measurement there was 11.5 mm. I didn't quite realize until AFTER I assembled the shortblock that it was cutting it REALLY close on those soft seals. I looked inside with a mirror and saw that they were barely supported at all. I figured worst case, they're -soft- and could fall out and get chewed up... probably not going to break anything https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

The motor has been fine for the last 1.5 years and has made over 400 rwhp at 15 PSI on a T04S so I figure that it's doing OK hehehe. I wonder if my soft seals are still in there or not hahaha.

Brian

Racer X 02-16-2004 12:36 PM

Damn I want those templates. That port pic makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

Jeff20B 02-16-2004 03:07 PM

You can always leave out the rubber piece in the corner seals... its supposed to help with cold compression, but I alw3ays leave them out and have found no difference whatsoever (when I don't use solid corner seals).

You'll have to run 2-piece seals no matter what; 3 piece seals are no longer available.

Indian 02-20-2004 01:15 AM

Any templates yet ?

kahren 02-20-2004 03:16 AM

there is much more to porting then just templates

kahren 02-20-2004 03:47 AM

some of you who will be buying these templates need to do some homework first before attempting to port your engine.

Judge Ito 02-20-2004 09:34 AM

Karen, you need to be a little more careful in how you try to guide and help people. Yes porting an engine takes more then a template. But for beginners a template gives them a guideline and a sense of guidance. For the more experienced guys it could give them an edge and that is what there looking for. a template is always a good tool to motivate and help people to get over the fear of porting the wrong way. Without a template you don't know where to stop or begin.
