Ok here's the deal,

I'm a rotary enthusiast, just like most everybody here on the forums(when I have the time). In my pursuit of learning about and modifying rotarys, specifically the 13B I've been working on... I decided to make my own oil baffle plate. This involved a lot of time measuring and rechecking dimensions by hand. After that I used that data to design the plate in CAD. To have it made I used a good laser shop which did a small run for me.



I'm not made of money, so the time has come to get out what I've invested in this baffle plate project.

Before I list them on ebay or here, a lucky Nopistons.com member has the opportunity to purchase one of these plates at cost.



Anyone in the USA who is building a 13B is eligible as long as you're planning to use it within a month. Just PM me if you're serious about trying this baffle plate out.



For $32 shipped, you will get a brushed or satin finished stainless steel baffle plate designed for the 13B rotary engine.



This at cost offer is for only one person to receive one baffle plate. In return that person will need to provide me with some feedback. Basically a product review i.e. how it fits, design thoughts, anything needing changes... ect.

I forgot to mention there were no fitment issues when I did my motor. Some old fan clutch pulley studs in the motor block helped keep it all aligned when I put the oil pan and gasket on. All sealing surfaces need to be cleaned with brake cleaner and the best gasket seal and silicone used liberally. This should fit any motor, NA or Turbo from 1986 thru 1992.



Just to recap. This is the final revision of my baffle plate design. It is ready to install and is no different than the one I put in my motor, which is running and almost ready to start autocrossing. I have about a dozen more baffle plates to sell. I think offering one as an initial "beta test" to respected rotary enthusiasts shows dedication to quality work and contribution to the rotary scene. I don't run a shop or business. This was just one of my side projects while learning about, and making modifications to my rotary's oil system. Many thanks to those who contributed their knowledge /experience to oil system function & mods. My 7's oil pressure is excellent!



My family says I'm nuts for being so involved with my "car". I think its healthy to let a little OCD out now and then...

 

Does no one think this is a good idea? Or has building /rebuilding slowed down that much?

Are the rotary community's activities somehow linked to the housing market?





Or is it the price of gas...

What motor do you have?



It lined up beautifully on my S4 NA motor.

As I understand it, all 13B motors from 86-92 have the same oil pan gasket pattern.

People don't give baffle plates enough credit. The biggest benefit I believe they provide is in oil de-aeration. With less air in your oil, pumping and cooling efficiency increases. Multi-weighted oils like to foam a good bit in rotary engines.

 

It's an 87 turbo motor from japan

 

Should fit fine. If an '86-'92 13B oil pan gasket lines up on it so will the baffle plate. Only time I could see a problem is if the irons have been heavily lapped or if the housings were way out of spec.
