jwteknix 01-15-2008 06:11 PM

Amp if you run it I'll definatly go LOL

amp 01-15-2008 07:43 PM

dont have the time and patience unfortunately to manage somethin like that...

and the venue id be providing wouldnt interest folks anyway... road course or perhaps autocross..

and considerin the complaints on costs last year.. doubt anyone would shell out the expense for this type of event..

jwteknix 01-16-2008 08:43 AM

people are ******* pussies idk how u could expect to bring 10 bucks to a track. oh and road coarse ftmfw!!!! idk but maybe we should start our own get together

vosko 01-16-2008 01:32 PM

i don't know. i'm pretty disappointed with everything

anyone have any ideas ?

They won't, if you charge enough to make it worth your while people will bitch constantly. Look at all the "rotary events" that had course events.... they've all but dissappeared. Also to ANYONE thinking of taking the reigns, assuming vosko wants to go that route, I am sure he'll will issue a similar warning, running an event like this is pretty much like running this crap hole, not only is a thankless job, you'll have people bitching at you no matter what you do and you better be ready to take more abuse then the thanks you get in return. The road to agony is no doubt paved with good intentions, but thick skin and the ability to be an ******* when necessary are far better traits then good intentions (yes, I know you yer saying to yourself I posses both and yer right ) https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.gif

It would be sad to see the event go away, but i understand and wouldn't hold anything again jon for hanging it up.

vosko 01-16-2008 02:22 PM

i may do an invite only BBQ, with armed guards/bouncers

that would be awesome https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

amp 01-16-2008 03:04 PM

true phins.. missin the late 90s when the rotary road course events were abundant..

clientele back then... for the lack of a better description.. were mature

although theres a handful that may remember the last rotary track event debacle in the late nineties that cost a lot of folks hundreds..

me included.. needless to say.. that was the start of the downward spiral of track events available for rotary enthusisasts..

minus of course.. the mazdarivers events bein held every year...

hmmmnn.. theres an idea..

Well it did start as a bbq, then car show/bbq, then car show, then car show/track day and then....

teknics 01-16-2008 04:43 PM

i think it should take a year off and come back next year old school style.

good eats and nice cars, and a "we're all a family" atmosphere.

after the sussex county fair one i stopped going, i could see the downward spiral coming lol. once you bring it to a racetrack the mindless morons showup to brag about their 16 second cars with all the free mods they did to it.

amp, my fd should be running again soon, we should get some guys together for a trip to VIR, maybe some porsche group or something wouldnt mind us jumping on board if they rented the track. I'm down for VIR in a heartbeat.

kevin.

vosko 01-16-2008 05:35 PM

i love VIR but its 500 miles each way.... i am going there for a few drift comps again this year

Rob x-7 01-18-2008 08:29 PM

Im up for anything on a smaller scale.

One of the reasons I always liked these cars is because there will never be one next to you at a light.

I dont care of the entire country wants to read about the cars- they dont care either.

I dont also dont want to be the minority at a huge car show with how few will come.

I pretty much think no matter what the event is you will peak where RF was- thats less then 175 cars or so.

Another few hundred cars are not going to magically appear and attend.

And sadly if sevenstock has had no influence on how mazda does things then nothing will.

Fact of the matter is mazda does not care about people keeping thier old cars going, they want people to buy NEW cars.

yea i laughed out loud literally when i read the comment about thinking mazda will notice. HA. good one, they dont care at all, hell if anything all our modified cars make them look bad in the general public's eye.

rotarychainsaw 02-22-2008 11:29 PM

I doubt I'll have money for racing, but I still vote for a BBQ this year. Make it an old timers meet or something. Anyone that was at rotorfest1 can come haha.

vosko 02-23-2008 11:58 AM

well where is a good place to bbq? i dont want to deal with having it in my town again if possible

rotarychainsaw 02-25-2008 09:54 AM

Thats the question... I can't really think of any place by me with a large parking lot and a grill. Maybe a state park or something...

raiden1981 03-17-2008 02:14 PM

Aw man, I used to live in Sussex County, NJ. Hamburg, that's my hometown, I was born in Newton. I miss Jersey, If there is anything going on up there for Mazdas, Let me know. Please. I would love to have an excuse to go home!!!!!!!

turbovr6 03-17-2008 07:05 PM

Hey, Hi, Hello everyone!!!

Been a while, quite a long while.

So I see an idea I had 2 years ago is starting to see the light of day....

We all know Rotorfest got too big, and lost it's purpose. With that in mind, I would really enjoy getting all the "old school" guys back together for a little invite-only BBQ. Kinda like a rotary class reunion https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.gif

What you guys think? Keep it small 50 or under cars, no trophies, no racing. Just us hanging out, shooting the ****, and eating some burgers. I have some spots in mind that we could use.

Jay

Rob x-7 03-19-2008 04:22 PM

im all game!

**** trophies and all that ****

hey hey now I have a fully running driving FD, its just not as nice as my non-running car lol, which i swear by my life i will finish this year lol, once my tax rebate comes I can afford my new radiator then its pretty quick and easy to get 'er running.

I got your msg about the bars, I'm trying to get to enzo this week or next, is he open on saturdays? Should I tell him you sent me to him or whatever? I really need the FD tuned this month if not this week, I was hoping to drop it off for at least a full day so he can give it a nice full tune session.

let me know.

Also ill post somer pics of high point for you guys, very scenic, outdoor grills and picnic tables, fishing/swimming and best of al NO ONE IS EVER THERE, except some bikers now and then lol, wed have it all to ourselves basically.

kevin.
