Update on my RX4
#1
Seems like a few people are starting to do RX4s lately so I thought I'd give in update on mine. I got my S5 engine street ported (yes I know the exhaust ports are NOT ported. The intakes ports are. Mis-communication between me and the builder) and it’s just about ready to go in. I have to change the front cover and the oil pan to the GSL-SE front cover and oil pan. I took out the A/T and putting in a 5-speed manual. The brake and clutch pedals weren't much of a problem. A 1st gen RX7 will work just fine. All you have to do is get a long shaft bolt (home depot) and my sure the sleeves on the pedals are good. The hardest part about this swap was getting them out of the 1st gen. Also under the hood against the driver side firewall is the block off plate for the master clutch cylinder. Remove it and a 1st gen cylinder will work just fine. You have to get longer mounting bolts though.
I'm going with a 1st gen tranny do to the simply fact its a direct bolt in for the mounts. I would and will put a 2nd gen Turbo II tranny in later. I've change the front spindles to 1st gen as well. It’s much easier to get brake parts for. With any luck the engine and tranny will be in by the end of the week.
Here are a few PICs and if anyone is interested in something please ask.
