I kinda of forgot about this project;

I ended up blowing a complete chunk out of the rear iron on the dyno, sprayed like 8 quarts of oil on the wall of the dyno. I heard the piece brake and instantly let off. No damage to the motor, got a late 91' reinforced iron on the motor, studded it and I've been waiting for the owner to come pickup the motor..

Its on video too...

I am working on an offroad race project and want to put a n/a 13b but have been told by other forum members that sand will be a problem, just like in vw's.

Since you have been workign on sand cars, do you believe that to be a problem if I redirect the airflow. I plan on building a truggy, so the engine will be close to the middle and was thinking of using air deflectors to be able to keep the sand and dirt off the engine.

I believe sand to be a worst problem on turbos.

I will appreciate your opinion?

what about the plastic meshy like socks that they make for dirt track go-karts? would they filter fine enough to keep the sand out?

You just have to pay close attention to the details. Its not really an issue. I would run a fuel injected turbo engine at least.

I have this sandrail running again. I can post a photo of the intake setup, it uses a sock as mentioned..
