Any information about setting up rotary for marine applications. Seems to me that rotary and marine are made for each other....I.E...Light, high RPM...I'd love to know of anyone that has done something like this....

Thanks street, i've already checked out those links. I have yet to actually see a rotary boat in action other than a prototype personal hydrofoil. Supposedly it's been run up to 100 mph....I'd love to see someone that has done a conversion, although a couple of companies promote it, no pixs or specs on the web..

I was at Atkins Rotary about a year or two ago and he had an engine sitting there that was going into a boat. Also there is a company back east(NJ I believe) that is producing 2,3,4 and 6 rotor diesel rotary engines.

not that it matters much about this thread but my grandpa was on the r&d team at omc (outboard marine corp, or johnson outboards) adn back in the day, about the time of the repu they made rotary racing boats. the 3 rotor version was to go into the regular boats and the 4 rotor was built for racing. of course they are all n/a's but it can and HAS been done before, LONG ago.



they dumped the project due to reliability issues and heat issues. but there was a few made that worked almost perfectly back in the day.

I know of a rotary powered Bertram, it was a experimental that

toured the country back in the day, the late 60's and early 70's.



It now has a fuel injected supercharged rotory in it, the boat is only 20' and the owner, who had a rotary repair shop, told me the boat wasnt that fast and had a hard time getting on plane, probably due to the lack of torque. Went thru a **** load of gas as well, the name of the boat back then was Rotary Special, and I believe Popular Mechanics had something to do with with the whole project.
