Thumbs up

Hi all, just wondering if you have seen any rotary powered go-karts? I have an extra engine laying around, and for some reason it looks like it would be somewhat more simple to put that in a go-kart chassis then a small 4 banger. Let me know if you guys have heard of anything. Thanks.

i've thouught of doing that with one of our extra 12A's, but my dad was complaining that it would be "too much power" for it. that would be fun to ride one of those around town, or race. i can imagine how much fun that would be.

I think it would be pretty cool to get one of those rotary snowmobile motors and do it that way. Imagine a well ported engine at the kart track!! That would be awesome.

yeah, i think that a 12a/13b might be a bit too much for a regular go-kart...like armyofone says, a rotary snowmobile motor might be what you're lookin for

though, you might wanna try that in a dune-buggie-like frame. my sister's husband and his father build these dune buggie-type cars where they just buy the frame and build from there (that's what they drove away in after the wedding, lol). seems like a rotary would be a great place for that

a few years back me and couple of freinds put a 303 wankel out of a old arctic cat in a go-kart. it went like hell and would incinerate the tires. that is until one of my stupid freinds knocked off the air filter and the engine ingested a whole bunch of sand. as i recall we used the centrifical clutchs and belt from the snowmobile and welded the driven clutch to a jackshaft with a spocket for the chain drive
