Well heres a couple of pictures of the new project car. It will have the same engine, ignition and carburator setup from my 13 second First Gen. But the car weighs 400 Lbs less in full trim than my first gen did stripped down bare. It will definitely be fun to drive.

ArmyOfOne 12-01-2005 02:36 PM

Here they are again.

KingFD 12-01-2005 04:42 PM

Thats a cool little car. Reminds me of some of the earlier Holdens that I used to see around when i was a kid.

rowtareh 12-01-2005 05:45 PM

Nice little car. Be a sleeper!!

sweet7 12-01-2005 09:08 PM

I wonder how far back the GM/Opel/Holden ties go.

it kinda looks like a late 70s dodge colt that should be a intresting and posible scary ride https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

matts86fc3s 12-08-2005 11:19 PM

so thats got a rotary? if you come back to the u.s. bring that thing with you... you can piss off alotta mustangs and corvettes with that thing

ArmyOfOne 12-09-2005 02:26 AM

Well I could bring it back but that depends on weather or not I return to the U.S. The engine is not in it yet. I am still sourcing a couple of parts. But as far as I can see everything will fit no problem. This includes a nice big Ford 9inch rear.

vosko 12-09-2005 10:31 AM

god that is ugly! it better be fast when you are done ha ha

Is it really that difficult to find parts for rotaries in germany?? ****, I just answered my own question. Everybody over there is Vdub, Benz, or Bimmer crazy. What motor is going in it? The one from your FB?

ArmyOfOne 12-11-2005 03:46 AM

Yup the one and only. I'm working on picking up a Euro NA in the xt couple of weeks. God I can't wait to get my hands on those 2 endplates. I found a good core 95 motor but I'm making a peripheral out of that one. Thats for the project continuation. Once I have the Ford 9in and the G-Force tranny I'll drop in the P-port with the Sakura Motorsports FC-10. It's really a lot of fun over here. My house is 1 street away from the nearest highway and it merges directly onto an unrestricted speed zone. So when test time comes around I just cruise it over there and open it all the way up. I already marked out the 400 meters with orange tape on the 50m markers.

That is awesome!!! Sakura Motorsports FC-10?? ECU, right??

ArmyOfOne 12-12-2005 01:18 AM

yup thats the one.

treceb 12-16-2005 12:28 PM

i know where theres a kadett wagon.

ArmyOfOne 01-25-2006 04:53 AM

Well Guys... update.

I have all the parts I need now. The piston engine finally gave up on me. The cylinder head warped and cracked. I never knew hydrostatic lock could be so violent!! It tore one of the motor mounts!! lol

Well tonight I will start yanking the engine, tranny and assorted piston supporting equipment.

Yes of course I will keep you guys posted with pictures.

BTW anyone on the board live around Wiesbaden Germany??

I might need a hand... lol.

And of couse drinks and food on me.

Hey is this the sarge that hangs with Ito?well if it is ,how you been?! anyways you aint the only project car that is known around here! I've sold my silverish blue second gen and bought a VW beetle, a 75 at that.I have everything I need for the conversion except the motor.I'll be driving around with the stock piston motor until I find all the parts I need to build my motorwith.Anyways, fiebre son,Eddy is going to help me with the project as well as doing my motor. It's going to be a 13b 4-port streetported and induction will temporarily be a holley 4-barrel but after a couple of months running I'll soon change to a dual throttle TWM induction kit .well sarge, hope tosee you this spring or summer!

ArmyOfOne 01-28-2006 02:49 PM

Well guys I did some test fitting and here are the pics.

Enjoy.

rowtareh 01-28-2006 11:52 PM

Looks good. Got a side shot also? Want to see how much room length wise you have.

Thanks

ArmyOfOne 01-29-2006 06:05 AM

Well the radiator mount (the 2 horns in the front) is about 11 inches long so it looks like an electric fan will be needed. I also have to test fit the oil cooler but I am sure it will fit perfect.

Today is sunday and you cant make noise. It is against the law here in Germany. So I will have to wait until tomorrow to cut the top of the transmission tunnel. The engine needs to level off a bit so the holley sits level.

I canīt drop the front of the engine anymore because it is sitting on the front crossmember. As far as an air filter goes I will have to go "rice" and use a cold air intake setup.

1st gen 01-29-2006 03:35 PM

looks good so far https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

ArmyOfOne 02-02-2006 07:32 AM

My oil pan sump is sitting between the X member and the stabilisor bar. Does anyone know if the oilpan will fit on the engine backwards? I know that I will have to modify the oil pickup tube.

By doing this I can shift the engine rearward and level it out a bit.

treceb 02-02-2006 11:17 AM

i dont see why not. the gasket fits both ways right? i guess youre referring if the bolts line up?

ArmyOfOne 02-03-2006 01:31 AM

Well I looked at a gasket last night and it looks like it will not. So what I am going to do is cut the bottom of the oil pan off and have a buddy weld it on backwards. Last night I worked on the motor mount but the cold chased me out of the garage. lol. I'll get it cut today.

Thanks for the response.

BTW my fuel system came in. It is the full kit from summit. Pump, filter, braided lines and fittings. I am also usint their tank kit AN-8 and AN-6 no return for now. I just have to get the 1/2" NPT bung welden to the tank.Once I go fuel injection then I will plumb in the return line.

ArmyOfOne 02-07-2006 03:05 AM

Update. I cut the radiator mount. I have 12 inches from the fromt of the water pump pulley to the grille. I am done cutting all of the mounts. A buddy is bringing his pro welding truck by on thursday and we will weld the mounts in place. On second thought I am going to leave the engine and tranny exactly where they are. The tranny mount lines up perfect with the stock position. After performing the shifter relocation mod the shifter lines up perfect with the stock location. Thanks for teaching me that mod Judge Ito.

Tonight I am getting started on the fuel system. I am still tossing the idea around of weather I want to mount the pump and filter in the trunk or under the car. Suggestions->comments->pros and cons... discuss please. Just remember street car.

ArmyOfOne 02-20-2006 04:21 AM

Well, yesterday I got the fuel pump and filter mounted in the trunk. I also bolted down the battery box in there. The welded fuel tank is complete and installed.

I also tossed around some ideas on where to mount the MSDs and second gen leading coils. I will get some pictures and post them up later.

ArmyOfOne 02-22-2006 03:34 AM

Well Here is a picture of the pump, filter and tank with lines.

1gendreemer 02-24-2006 12:18 PM

Looks like you're gonna have a cool little sleeper when you're done. When I lived over there, the old Kadetts would always catch my eye.

I can't imagine the looks you must get from the Germans running modded rotary stuff over there! Good luck with the rest of the project!

ArmyOfOne 02-27-2006 05:50 AM

Engine and transmission mounts are welded up. I'll drop the engine and tranny in tomorrow and start building the exhaust system.

vrtkevin 02-28-2006 05:35 PM

Hey punk... I will be right over to help you out with the install if you need it. hahaha there better be lots of food and beer tho

kevin

ArmyOfOne 03-01-2006 01:11 AM

Well update, Engine and transmission are BOLTED in place.Tomorrow I'l get on with header construction.

Kevin you better tell your mom to send some chile sause or else!!

I would gladly accept, Do you think you could grab a T88 from Tito on your way over?? lol. jk.

Racer X 03-02-2006 05:10 PM

Good progress on your swap.Looks like you'll get it done in no time. That little thing should move.Good Luck

ArmyOfOne 03-10-2006 07:18 AM

Well the exhaust is officially being a pain in the buns!!(keeping moderators happy) It has taken me 8 hours of real world cut and paste. I wish I had a mandrel bender and som shiney new pipe!!

I will be using a SAAB straight through muffler as a pre silencer.

During construction I found some serious restrictions in the old exhaust and fuel systems. Which makes me wonder just how much more power I have just tapped into. Well we will find out soon enough since the car will be back on the road in 14 days. Yes that is my goal! Help me stay focused guys.

BTW, Good luck to all of you guys in the north east going out to test and tune tomorrow on "Track Opening Day"

Racer X 03-10-2006 09:15 PM

cool.keep us posted on your progress

ArmyOfOne 03-17-2006 12:10 PM

I have not forgotten my deadline!! Tomorrow I will complete the transmission tunnel and relocate the axle locator mount for better exhaust tubing clearance. Header is complete and engine is bolted in place.

Today we took a drive and dropped off the driveshaft. Custom driveshaft will arrive this week.

List of things to do...

Mount clutch master (Bracket completed)

Axle locator

Mount MSDs

Battery cables

Add fuel and drive away

Rejoice.

ArmyOfOne 03-20-2006 02:27 AM

Fuel system complete

Oil system complete

Transmission tunnel complete

Just keeping y'all posted.

Racer X 03-20-2006 05:29 PM

Looks to be on the home stretch now.

ArmyOfOne 03-21-2006 07:16 AM

Brand new shiney drive shaft just arrived!!

Tonight I'll work on battery cables and MSD's.

ArmyOfOne 03-23-2006 01:00 AM

Batter Cables installed

Drive shaft installed

Water pump gaskets installed

modified s5 WP housing with an s3 water pump (alternator bracket too long)

Measured up hoses for radiator.
