Finally got the engine in the car a couple of days ago. It was a really tight fit but all pan out at the end. I wasn't able to use the T2 trans due to the bell housing being way to big for my little car. The 79 trans fit perfect without any excessive modifications. I purchased a disassemble header from RB and had it welded at a local shop. Next, will be the modification of a rx-3 radiator in this tight space !

Can anyone tell me about modifying the T2 trans shifter forward about 4 inches ?

You can use a B2600 truck 2WD tranny and use a rx4 or turbo II bellhousing.

The tranny is way shorter than the turbo II tranny and you wont have to cut the shifter florr.

The truck d-shaft is the same as a turbo d-shaft

If your worried about the firewall you should cut and lift it a bit since you will want to install a scater sheidl or protecter. Your feet will thank you later.
