So. Just got my datsun510 with 13b 4 port running a couple days ago. Just rebuilt the motor and street ported with itos templets. So sometimes under different loads and low rpm around 3.5k I get this loud chatter that sounds like its comming from the tranny, it goes away at around 6K at least it did before the rebuld. the car made the noise before I rebuilt this engine and now it still makes it but I rebuilt it cuz I overheated it. I dunno what it is but it sounds like its comming from the tranny. And I don't think its clutch chatter cuz it never makes it when I engage or disengage the clutch.anyone got any ideas?

Some usefull information, it does the chatter while in all different gears when acelerating moderetly at around 3.5K rpm. The engine was assembled with all parts within spec. Water temp running around 195 oil temp around 200 and 80 oil psi. Engine starts easy, and sounds great. I'm gonna try to make a video and get it on here, but if anyone has ideas of what the problem might be that would be great.

usually its bearing noise. the last one i took apart though, is just worn out, ALL of the spacers, and parts that make the clearances in the trans are just gone, i could see that making plenty of noise.

another thought i just had, is that noise transmits. back in 99, we changed a few miata mufflers for a rattling noise, but after some digging it turned out to be the clearance between the shift hub, and the shift slider. mazda made it bigger, to make shifts easier, but rev it in neutral, and it sounds like the exaust has broken heat shields.
